Jeff Kaplan never sits still. But we like it that way. We have a new D.va skin, new maps are announced and I have a personal announcement for all you tactical players!
D.va gone
It is a bad bad day for D.va mains. Our beloved Korean MLG gamer was disabled due to bugs.
Apparently, some competitive players suddenly got their match reset because a D.va was in their team. This happens mainly because now with the Uprising event, the developers want to instantly get the updates out there without testing on the PTR first. They don’t want to spoil the surprise obviously. Anyways, in my opinion, Overwatch has a lot of credit in my book. I like Jeff Kaplan so I personally don’t mind for now.
New maps
Speaking about Jeff, he recently announced that there are 6(!) maps under development. He goes on by saying that, likely, there will be another 3 maps released this year! 3 of those maps are probably just regular maps that go into comp and quickplay. The other 3 maps are non-regular maps. This means it will be something like Ecopoint: Antarctica or the Lucio Ball arena. My bet would be an Australian map. Since Overwatch already claimed that they want to represent every continent and no map of Australia has been revealed yet, I think we will be going down under. Or going up? Winston was born on the moon so how cool would that be? We could also look at which character already got a map. And in that regard, if we are being strict, then Junkrat, Lució, Mercy, Roadhog, Symmetra, Torbjörn, Widowmaker and Winston still need maps.
New D.va skin
In other D.va news, she has a new skin! The police officer skin will be available on the first of May. You can get it through playing Heroes of the Storm and completing the so-called “Nexus Challenge 2.0. But the thing that surprises me the most is that people start getting butthurt with things that don’t have to do anything with it. So a Korean character (that is also in the Korean army) gets a police skin. And suddenly everyone starts to rage. Even calling the police force a symbol of hate and racism. And as much as I personally don’t like the police force, it just is not that bad. People are taking it too far. Plus it is an American problem not worldwide. So I don’t see what people are mad about. A virtual 19-year-old Korean gamergirl with a police skin that sparks the black lives matter discussion. Sounds a bit far doesn’t it? Don’t get me wrong I am all for and there surely is a problem. I just think this isn’t the place to discuss this problem. Oh, and by the way, the Oni Genji skin will be available as well to end on a positive note.
Overwatch Tactics
This is not really Overwatch news but more personal. I am going to analyze diverse characters and maps and I am going to try to discuss the best tactics. I am going to make a spreadsheet with characters and maps. I will say what characters are good on defense or offense on all the maps and I will try to do this as detailed as possible. For instance, I will try to write on what occasion, or on what part of the game a certain hero is required. I don’t really look at team composition for now though.
Just saying that this is my interpretation. Not everyone has the same main or can play every character as well. For instance, I am really good at D.va, Junkrat or Tracer. But I am very bad at Zarya or Ana. Eventually, when people like this, I will put the excel sheet online so you can download it and customize it at will. I will also sometimes change the spreadsheet because heroes and maps will be added, buffs and nerfs occur and so on. It is not completed yet but it will soon.
But I would love to hear your suggestions. So e-mail met at 2StijnS2@gmail.com for suggestions and tactics that you may want to include.
