Hardware Review – Razer Ouroboros Mouse III

Wow, the looks

razer-logo-facebook-ogAs you probably have seen already, the mouse looks amazing. With its futuristic design, the Ouroboros stands out. The mat black texture is slightly rough. That combined with the silver highlights and the green LED lights, give the mouse a qualitative feeling. The grid on the front of the mouse makes it looks like an engine from a space ship or a race car.  The wheel is fitted with an anti-slip rubber ring and surrounded with an extra set of LED’s.

The underside is equipped with smooth surfaces. No matter the underground, you will always get top notch performance. You can find the recharging points on the bottom as well. These slid onto the metal tips on the charging dock. This dock is made from the same material as the mouse and also functions as the wireless transmitter. The front has a green LED to indicate the connection, while at the back there is a USB port. The USB cable goes into here for a wireless connection of the mouse with the computer. Or you can connect the USB cable in the front of the mouse self for a wired connection. I find this the big disadvantage of the Ouroboros.

You see, you can only recharge the mouse when your computer is on, either by turning it into a wired mouse, or by placing it on the charging dock. To recharge during the night, you have to unplug the USB cable from your computer and use a wall USB connection. This also means that you have to reconnect everything again if you want to use your mouse; because the charging dock is also the transmitter. I would have preferred a separate transmitter and a charging dock. That way I’m much more flexible instead of now.
