Special: E3 2015 – Predictions part IV

E3 2015 is really getting closer and closer. We’ve already seen some big announcements such as Doom and Fallout 4 but there’s more to come for sure!

In this fourth part of our predictions we take a guess at what might be the next big thing for gaming. Will it be virtual reality, PC games? Or something else? Time to find out.

As always a member of our crew, Michiel Vonck, lists his top 5 reveals he’s hoping for and a top 3 of dreams that will most likely not come true. Here we go!

E3 top 5

5) Probably a new console, handheld device or other device

Every year they upgrade different systems and handheld devices. It seems like they can’t do without “ next-gen evolution”. The biggest shots will probably show different bundles and will lower their prices on current consoles. A big subject will probably be the virtual reality headsets. We haven’t really seen them in action, maybe this year will be different.

4) Original games with brand new features and future franchises

I really hope we get to see an amazing new game that can grow into another big franchise. Developers need to be original and creative these days. They really have to stop producing games in their safety zones and start thinking out of the box. Every year we see a new Battlefield, a new Call of Duty, a new Assassin’s Creed, … it gets boring. They stop worrying about their fans and it seems they’re only thinking of making big money.

3) Return of the PC games!

PC gamers don’t see anything new or original, they only get copies of console games. There needs to be a developer that really sees the potential in PC games. It would be cool to make an awesome game only to be released on PC. We need to take the power back and start doing something different than MOBA games. Make some new strategy games like in the old days.

2) Returning franchises for Xbox One

Xbox One had a dull year. There haven’t been original releases for this console in months and we’re waiting to see something appear in the Xbox One stand in gaming shops. It feels like my Xbox One has only one purpose and that’s being a multimedia device without games. My Xbox One is getting dusty since there isn’t anything exciting in the Xbox One world. Bring us something Microsoft! Stand out from other consoles!

1) Games designed for the virtual reality headset

There are different virtual reality headsets but there aren’t any games out there specially designed for this device. Why make this awesome headset if you can’t fully experience it in a game. Sure we’ll have the chance to play older games with this headset but I want to see more or experience more with this headset.

1) A decent Kinect game!

Kinect is one of the reasons I bought an Xbox One. It’s cool to access your apps via hand gestures. It gives you a very futuristic feeling. I was very excited when I saw the first trailer of Ryse. It looked like the start of a decent franchise played with the Kinect. Unfortunately, it failed as a game and you couldn’t even play it decently with Kinect. Hoping to see this changed!

2) A new MMO filled with fun features and build to last.

Over the last year, there were different MMO’s being created for PC and consoles. They all looked like they would last but they just don’t work as well as the developers promised. They’re often unfinished and boring to play. There’s nothing new here and I’m really not looking for new features in the next MMO. I just want it to be as good as the WOW collection. World of Warcraft is slowly going down but it’s still one of the most popular MMO’s out there thanks to it’s wealth due to expansion packs. Another thing I’m bothered with is the fact that every MMO starts off with a subscription plan and ends in a free- to- play system. Stop doing this! Try to launch an MMO with just a buy- in price. Take Guild Wars 2 as an example. You don’t pay and people still enjoy it! It even has a good production value.

1) Kingdom Hearts 3

I’m really excited for this! It was my first game ever and I loved It from the beginning. It’s just an awesome world with a good story. The blend of Final Fantasy characters and Disney figures is just fun and it suits the world perfectly. I do hope they will add new features and not only focus on the graphical aspects. If his will only launch on the PS4 and not on the Xbox One… I’ll freak out! C’mon Square Enix!
