Graphic Novel: Assassin’s Creed vol. 3: Accipiter
To every beautiful story ever written comes an end. The same goes for the Assassins’s Creed Graphic Novel trilogy. But don’t be fooled, the third and last volume is without a doubt a story that every fan should read. Are you ready to follow the adventures of Aquilus to the very end?
Aquilus will once again play an important role in the story. He’s still looking for that one artifact that would decide the fate of the assassins. But Aquilus doesn’t stand alone this time, he gets help from Accipiter, another master assassin working for the good cause. The stories of both assassins start of separately but as the story evolves, so does their stories. At the end they’ll even meet each other in desperate times. I won’t go into details on the story but it’s by far the most intriguing of all the volumes combined.
As you may already suspected, Desmond is also still present in this volume. Although his role isn’t that big as in the previous volumes you’ll still have a chance to discover more about this character. Desmond remains one of the best test subjects and his devotion to the life of his ancestors grows each day.
But that’s not what makes this volume the best out of three. The reason for this is the mysterious story that gives us insight into the future of the franchise. We get to know a new test subject that will replace Desmond in the search of a long lost artifact. The location of the artifact is unveiled at the end of the story thanks to a postcard. It’s very interesting to know and perhaps the long awaited Assassin’s Creed 3 game will indeed take place in the ancient Egypt.
This third volume feels like a real addition to the games because you’ll learn some new and unrevealed plans and characters. The art style remained the same over the three volumes but still works. It all looks very realistic and this gives you the ability to easily believe each and every word said in this Graphic Novel.
We can conclude that this volume gives you everything and even more you could expect from a final volume. The story feels complete and never gets boring. Because you’ll learn some new information in this volume it’s definitely worth a look. All in all this graphic novel trilogy turned out to be a must have for the Assassin’s Creed fans. Accipiter is an epic conclusion to one of the most exciting universes out there.
