Ubisoft napped several big titles and put millennial nostalgia on top, so parents and kids (and people in general) have something to look forward to. I loved the addition of Green Day (in standard and bathtub versions) and The Rasmus, but I could have done with a little less Ariane Grande. Like, I love some of her songs, but there are more famous artists from the 20s that could have been added, no? Sorry, I’m messing with you – the Ariana Grande songs are part of the themed song packs Just Dance released with the last two editions (just like the Disney songs in 2024).

New features

As I said before, Just Dance features a base game (Just Dance) with annual additions in the form of the ‘202x Edition’. With 2025, we get 40 new and fun songs for everyone: There’s something for every taste in Just Dance 2025 Edition. To give yourself a challenge (or not), you can pick from a wide range of songs with difficulty levels ranging from Easy to Intense. Whether you play with your friends or family, there’s choreography for everyone, from easy to more challenging. Some songs even offer different difficulty levels depending on the coach you choose.

Another excellent addition is the Workout mode for fitness enthusiasts. Who said that dancing isn’t a form of working out? Well, you are wrong! Start your own fitness routine and exercise while having fun in Workout mode. Keep yourself motivated by tracking calories burnt and time spent dancing. You don’t need to boot up the workout mode since the game tracks calories burned for you with each song you play. Ubisoft has covered you if you are worried you can’t dance or work out with your friends. Whether you or your friends own Just Dance 2023 Edition, Just Dance 2024 Edition, or Just Dance 2025 Edition, all players are connected on the same platform. If you own several editions, all content is together in the same place – which is neat when you are a reviewer like me.

Just Dance+ is again expanded – there is nothing new except for the themed packs I mentioned before. Just Dance 2025 comes with an Ariana Grande song pack: Enjoy an exclusive Ariana Grande song pack included in every edition, including her latest hits: We Can’t Be Friends (wait for Your Love), yes, and?, The Boy Is Mine and the rest, as listed above. Oh, and the camera mode (introduced in Just Dance 2024) is expanded with five songs. I don’t know if it’s available on Android by now (I don’t have an Android phone to test it out), but Ubisoft describes it as follows – and it works pretty well:

Our goal is to allow you to use your mobile device to play the game hands-free, with your phone’s camera (in landscape mode) detecting your moves and scoring you accordingly. This is a complex feature that we’ve spent time getting just right – now, we’re in the home stretch to get it perfect alongside you, and use your feedback to make it as great as it can be.

Oh, and this edition is the first to receive an E10+ rating, primarily due to songs used ingame;

This is a music-rhythm game in which players perform choreographed routines by following the movements of on-screen characters. Players score points by accurately dancing in time to the music and scrolling indicators. A handful of song lyrics contain the word “hell,” as well as references to suggestive material (e.g., “Yeah we hooked up”; “Lucky that my breasts are small”; “I don’t like no whips and chains/And you can’t tie me down”; “The dirty talking it turns to play”).

Conclusion

So, to conclude! Just Dance 2025 hits the right buttons and shows that Ubisoft is back on track with its annual releases of Just Dance. The ingame models look stunning, there is an excellent addition of music, and the themed packs offer quite a broad pallet for music enthusiasts. When my daughters are done dancing to Frozen and Encanto, I’ll fire up some of the 2024 bangers and throw in a bit of a workout to keep the flow going. I can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store for Just Dance.
