The AOC U34G3XM/EU is an affordable ultrawide 34-inch monitor for gamers who are looking for quality without having to pay the premium price. Is it a monitor worth buying? Time to find out!
The AOC level of quality
AOC is taking the gaming market by storm as the brand is quickly becoming more popular. One of the biggest selling points is the fact that the company delivers impressive monitors at an affordable price. The newest U34G3XM is their newest ultrawide monitor and is available for less than 300 bucks, which is impressive for an ultrawide monitor! What I love about AOC is that although their monitors are rather cheap, the quality isn’t. When I took this monitor out of its box, I was pleasantly surprised with its quality. It comes with a sturdy and robust stand with HDMI, DisplayPort, and headset ports. It offers everything you would expect from a gaming monitor and the screen really shines thanks to its narrow edges. It’s also adjustable in height and you can turn it around to achieve the perfect angle for your comfort. It’s a great-looking monitor and it doesn’t look or feel like a budget monitor. Its 34-inch screen with a 21:9 ratio looks great while gaming and the VA panel together with a response time of 1ms, refresh rate of 144 Hz, and a 3400 x 1440 resolution turns this budget-friendly monitor into the perfect companion for modern gaming. This level of quality is something I really appreciate about AOC as it clearly demonstrates you don’t need to overpay for decent hardware.
The monitor in action
After using this monitor for a while there are a couple of things that stand out. First thing first, the monitor has decent factory settings, the first time I used it for gaming, it showed great contrasts and vivid colors thanks to the depth of the WQHD resolution. If you don’t like the colors or contrast, you can quickly change those in the settings but straight of the box, the monitor was here to impress. When it comes to contrast, it’s known that IPS panels have to upper hand compared with IPS panels but it doesn’t really matter that much for a mid-range monitor like this one. For its price, the IPS panel does a more than decent job of displaying some convincing levels of contrast. When it comes to gaming, you don’t need to worry about ghosting or screen tearing thanks to the impressive 144Hz refresh rate. Besides gaming, I also started using the monitor for my daily job since and it really served its purpose as an impressive second monitor. It’s created for gaming of course, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use it for your daily routine. You can easily switch between the created profiles so you can easily change the purpose of the monitor.
When it comes to gaming, the monitor shines brightest for PC gamers. On console, it all looks pretty good and the 21:9 ratio works but it’s a whole other story for PC games that support the wider ratio. Thanks to the ultra-wide monitor, you’ll see more of the gaming world and it’s way easier to fully immerse yourself in your favorite gaming world. I loved playing adventure games and shooters since the ultra-wide monitor really gave me a new benefit and helped a lot for some deeper immersion.
Conclusion:
The AOC U34G3XM/EU is an impressive monitor for its price. I would easily recommend this to PC gamers who are looking for a decent ultrawide monitor but don’t want to pay the premium price. You’ll get a great monitor in return but do keep in mind that the IPS panel isn’t the best for contrast if you’re not directly comparing it with the more expensive monitors, you won’t even notice. This is a great deal without a doubt!
