Nvidia is best know for its graphic cards but will move over towards the handheld market this year.
Project Shield is Android-based and will support the new Tegra 4 chip, enabling the handheld device to stream PC games. More details inside.
The new ‘console’ doesn’t have an official name or price just yet but the first details are looking promising.
Project Shield looks like a regular controller, jus as those of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but has a 5-inch screen attached to it. You’ll be playing your games with a 1280×720 resolution.
The handheld will come with an Android operation system, including all the games in the Google Play Store. But that’s not all, the system will also be able to stream games from your PC, to make them playable in your hand. You can compare this to what the Wii U does in games like New Mario Bros. U.
To be able to stream your PC games, your PC will have to have a GeForce GTX 650 card or higher.
The system will be up for sale in the second half of 2013 in the US and Canada.
More details will follow soon.
