Anger Foot is an upcoming game from Free Lives and published by Devolver Digital. We all know Devolver isn’t shy of bringing weird games to the market and Anger Foot is just one of those games that looks incredibly weird but once you start playing it, you can’t put it back down.
Kill to the beat
At its core, Anger Foot is a first-person shooter where you’re most powerful weapon isn’t your gun, it’s your foot. By pulling the trigger, you kick down everything that’s in your way. From doors to random objects and enemies, it’s all there and it’s a blast to play! To make it even better, the game comes with a heavy bass soundtrack so it’s like a killing rave. Anger Foot is created in a cartoonish style but don’t let this throw you off guard. This game is as explicit as they come. From alien blood to censored nudity, it’s all there and it goes extremely hard. The levels are rather short but they do offer the right amount of challenge. If you want to make it out alive, you’ll have to time your attacks and pick the most suitable weapon before you kick in the door to the next room. This in combination with the heavy music really pulls you in immediately and quickly becomes one of those games you can’t put down.
More than just kicking
Although kicking down doors and enemies is the game’s main selling point, it does come with guns too. The more levels I played, the deadlier my weapons quickly become. It started with a simple revolver but ended with an Uzi and some explosives. Guns are there to quickly take down multiple enemies hiding in one room but you can never truly rely on them. Your ammo is very limited so aiming is crucial since you don’t want to wast a good bullet. Finding the right timing and combination of kicking and shooting adds a certain level of puzzle mechanics. Each door you kick in leads to a door where an unknown number of enemies is possibly hiding. If you die, you’ll have to restart from the beginning of the level but now with the advantage of knowing the positions of your enemies. This results in a way faster second run since you can anticipate your enemies and adjust your strategies. If you want to go all-out, you can drink an energy game that can be found in every level. Drinking this will boost your speed a lot, easily doubling your chances to dodge an attack. Anger Foot is a fast-paced first-person shooter that just asks for ‘one more round’. At the end of some levels, you’ll also face off with bosses which are extremely hard to beat. If you’re up for a challenge, this is one you should add to your list!
