Welcome to our hands-on impressions for the upcoming Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy!
Recently, we had the chance to go hands-on with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the newest Marvel game made by Eidos Montreal and published by Square Enix, which was a very good experience, to say the least. This game or at least the part I was able to play was extremely gorgeous and filled with such detail, it was all very impressive. I actually wanted to include the doge meme to validate my point; but hey, let us try to remain adults…
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will hit store shelves end of October and I must say I am now more excited than before. The gameplay somewhat resembles that of Scarlet Nexus, a different game I just loved playing and I can not wait to fully explore the galaxy together with the band. Being lucky enough to play a full level of the game, I got a clear taste of what to expect.
How well balanced that first impression may be, it was still a first impression, and while keeping that in mind, here are some of my experiences: first of all, the music. Yeah, I know, why not start with gameplay or so, but this franchise is known for its music, and trust me when I say it plays a massive role in this game. Remember the tape recorder from the movies? Well, you will see it play a prominent role mid-fight when you use it to huddle with the other Guardians.
This leading us to gameplay, like I mentioned before, it does resemble Scarlet Nexus in the same way that you can somehow control parts of the Guardians. Get the powerful Drax to attack, get Rocket for ranged damage, or Groot for some of his protecting. Obviously, we can not forget our own favorite girl assassin who just gives out major physical punishment.
But that was not all, enemies in my playthrough had their own weak spots, being ice attacks. So I had to flip from ice attacks to my regular blaster to dish out major damage. Sure I could have let Peter Quill just grind away at the enemies, but it is just my impression that the best way is to really take advantage of the weak spots. At least based upon my short experience.
Something I also adored is the workbench. Editing perks of the Guardians was never this easy and it also proved one thing, you do not seemingly need to go around and search every nook and cranny, you can just collect certain materials, and those end up adding perks to existing load-outs, this is possibly the best approach to item management for any game really, no more searching endlessly like you are becoming a brainless zombie but just getting them upgraded at your leisure. Time will tell if this system catches on or not.
Needless to say, I am more hyped than ever to start playing this game and the end of October can not be here soon enough… Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is not one to sleep on!
