Review: Watch Dogs Legion: Bloodline

Welcome to our review of Watch Dogs Legion: Bloodline, the Aiden Pearce DLC that has been out for a while but I finally get ’round to it!
Aiden Pearce is back! Included in the Season Pass, discover Bloodline, the expansion that brings Aiden and Wrench back. Aiden Pearce arrives in London to take over a contract, and this time he’s teaming up with Wrench in a new storyline set before the events of the main game. He’s caught between a powerful military robotics corporation, and a returning DedSec member with an opposing agenda. With no real allies, Aiden must rely on his grit and experience to navigate a hostile city, try to outmaneuver his enemies and keep his family intact.
(Bloodline available to purchase separately. Requires the Base Game.)

As an avid game lover and frequent hour collector on any console, it is incredibly hard to keep track of every possible add-on and DLC. I actually use the least busy periods of the year to get to games I want to either get back into or those I consider finishing when I really have time. Finishing DLCs is part of this and I keep track by reminders, they go off once a year and my google assistant recently reminded me to start playing a lot of games and Bloodline was part of the ever-growing list.

Not wanting to sound negative, but it is usually a task upon itself to get back into games sometimes months or even years after your last entry into the game. I first went into the main game, played a few side missions to get used to the Watch Dogs Legion gameplay again, and then, after around an hour or three, I started the Aiden Pearce DLC.

In this DLC, you are basically going in as the OG. The real deal and so many more synonyms for the guy himself. It became clear to me quite quickly that this DLC might even do more for fans of the original games, fans that generally did not consider Legion to be the Game of the Year as I did. I considered the original Legion to be the best game of that year and well, frankly speaking, I still do.

Bloodline however introduces a lot more to the game, but not in terms of action, the base game is all the same delight. You go in, take out enemies quietly or you do the guns blazing thing and hope to survive. Bloodline does more than this, it actually introduces a more realistic story and backbone. It also does one heck of an amazing job introducing humor into the game. Sure there are some giggles here and there in Legion, but Wrench is on another level.

Almost like I wanted him to have his own game, heck, that would rule so much. The guy is brutal at times, his guns are pink and incredibly violent, but his humor is dark. Never shy of a joke, delivering one punch after another, the guy is actually the showstopper for me in Bloodline.

I do wish the game had successfully saved my gameplay after the first 4 hours with Aiden, an issue they still have not fixed. It may be the quick resume on my Series X borking as not just Legion but also Fortnite has this issue for me. Ah well, it took me less than 2 hours to go back into my same save point. It sure helps you know what to do and where to go. Checking out 4 robots? I think not, just went to the one with the vital information and it let me advance.

In conclusion, Wrench is awesome and so is this DLC. It made me put the original game on my ever-growing list…
