Backworlds is a multi-dimensional puzzle platform game in which you explore by painting. Move between two parallel worlds, each with its own unique set of properties, using your brush to flow seamlessly from one to the other. Solve environmental conundrums by using each world’s physical properties to your advantage, and use your own creativity to craft original solutions to the game’s puzzles.

Backworlds is quite the smart puzzle game. My love for ingenious puzzle games is well known and well, Backworlds is another one to really enjoy. The system is actually easy to understand, use one of the dimensions to your advantage and paint your way to the solution.
In handheld mode, this game is by far the preferred way to play as I did feel it was slightly harder to play in TV mode. I just preferred touching the display rather than using my pro controller to play. But maybe that is just my preference, heck, I would love to see this game on mobile, but sadly it is currently only out on Steam and Nintendo Switch.
What I truly enjoyed about this game, is that it is really just so natural to play and solve the puzzles. Despite a lousy tutorial part of the game, this could have been more elaborate in my humble opinion. But the game itself plays properly. I could easily see the way out every single time and after a few misses here and there, I was able to pass all the puzzles.
Switching from one side, make me some steps, switch back, and go up a floor. Then get over a pit, just to switch dimensions again so I could jump the pit in that dimension. A lot of smart moves and there I was, ready to move to the next part of the game.
Graphically, Backworlds is not a high flyer, but I feel like repeating myself. Great games do not need impressive graphics. Backworlds is a perfect example of that theory of mine.
In conclusion, Backworlds is one of those games that is better than it looks and plays quite well. Handheld mode is what truly makes this game shine and I enjoyed it a lot.
