Welcome to our review of Yet Another Zombie Defense HD, a strategic game all about surviving hordes of zombies!
Yet Another Zombie Defense HD is all about defending yourself against hordes of darkness attacking you every night. However, when you’re a lone survivor struggling against waves of enemies who are getting stronger and stronger, your end is inevitable. The only important question is how long can YOU survive?
The game is a top-down arcade zombie shooter with strategy elements. You’re able to choose from a variety of weapons to mount them onto auto turrets and set up defensive barricades to stay alive as long as you can. It’s for gamers who like to put their skills to the test, find an optimal strategy, and reach the highest spot on leaderboards! It also features both online and local co-op mode, where you can blast zombies with up to three friends as well as player vs player deathmatch mode!
Being a very easy game in idea, you are being surrounded and you got a gun to stay alive. Also being a very hard game in execution, the hordes of zombies are very unforgiving.
Yet Another Zombie Defense HD is a cheap game and that is a blessing, unlike the number of zombies that are coming at you in the later levels! The idea itself is really easy, do what it takes to stay alive. You get to upgrade your weapons to build a sort of fortress for yourself to hide in while the enemies try to destroy it.
My preferred way to survive? Whatever the F it takes!
I have gone from running away from the enemies, getting missiles to shoot at them, buying electrified fences that hopefully destroy or delay the zombies. I loved the big explosions as they were most reliable in taking down several enemies at the same time.
And landmines, damn, those come in handy. It makes you wish you had infinite cash and some sort of way to really overpower yourself, but alas… This game is hard because it lacks money, every level is usually just enough for 1 or 2 good items and do you really want to skip buying what could potentially save your life? I think not.
On top of the big strategic side, you just basically need good aim or a lot of luck. This game is hard, to say the least, but the desire to figure out how to pass yet another level, it is very high. The sad part, it might not be enough to keep you hooked to this game, though I think the low price point sure is very tempting to buy this game.
In conclusion, while this may not be the holy grail of strategical survival games, it does pack a serious punch and is great for some mindless zombie killing. In single player mode, this is a hard game, but with friends, it becomes so much more enjoyable. Do you have what it takes to stay alive?
