Indie Corner: Blood Waves

Blood Waves is out now on Nintendo Switch, is it worth getting?

Blood Waves is a Third person PvE shooter in which you play a lady in some sort of temple that is overrun with zombies.
As it is in many games they conveniently come in waves as to give you time to prepare for the next one.
In between waves you can enter a shopping area. In this area, you can buy weapons, ammo, traps, and barricades to hold back the zombies.

Now this concept of a game is anything but new or refreshing. Sadly enough the graphics and controls feel at least as old as the concept.
The controls on the Switch are extremely clunky and turning around is either to fast or way to slow. You can adjust your sensitivity but it never feels actually good.
The game feels very grindy and the only thing that kept me playing was just my curiosity to see how all the traps work.
And it took some time to gather enough cash to afford them and watch them blow up within seconds of being attacked.

Once you start to incorporate the barricades with the traps, they do get more productive.
Another aspect of the game is the workbench, where you can upgrade your weapons. And there is also a “skills” table where you inject yourself with “skills”.

To sum up this review, I have got to say that I do not recommend this game. There are better games with the same concept that will better scratch the itch for killing zombies.
The game lacks depth and substance. There just isn’t enough to do in Blood Waves. There is only one map, The AI that drives the zombies seems to be a bit dumb and there are a ton of glitches and mistakes.
