News: Switch’s online service won’t be free

During the Switch presentation, Nintendo has made it clear that they’ve learned from their competitors. This includes making their online multiplayer service subscription-based, like the PS4 and Xbox One.

It will be free at launch until after fall 2017 and will also come with a party chat application, making it easier to play with friends online. Nintendo hasn’t said anything about the price yet, but it’ll probably be the same as their competitors (50-60 euros for a year subscription). The subscription will also give you a monthly free download of a NES or SNES game that comes with a newly-added multiplayer. Lastly, you will also get exclusive deals in the Nintendo eShop, similar to PS Plus members on the Playstation platform.
