Microsoft announced their plans for Cross-network play. This means that in the future Playstation 4 users and Xbox One/Windows 10 might be able to play with each other.
Cross-network play will allow Xbox One and Windows 10 users to not only play with each other but with players from other systems like Playstation 4 or even Wii U/NX.The first game capitalizing of this is the hugely popular Rocket League.
Now not all game or even any games have to support this but this could potentially be huge and Microsoft gave “an open invitation for other networks to participate as well.” so let’s hope for the best. If this thing catches on you will never(or at least for the supported game) have to ask your friends which version of Call of Duty they’re buying. Or you will never miss out on Destiny 2 raids because you only own a Playstation 4 and your buddies own an Xbox One. The future looks bright, even if other companies refuse to support the feature.
