Party Animals is an upcoming physics-based Xbox game that’s as crazy as it sounds. It’s by far my most chaotic Gamescom meeting ever and I loved every second of it.
Push them off!
During the demo we played two modes together with the developers and other journalists. For the first mode, we got divided into small duos and were put on a platform with the other teams. The goal of the game was simple, push off the others and be the last team standing. Since it’s a physics-based game, the ragdoll mechanics make it nearly impossible to be precise. The matches instantly transformed into pure chaos where the party animals were running around, grabbing objects, grabbing each other and trying to push the opponents over the edge. If you fail, it’s not game over in this game. As a spectator, you could throw fish, banana peels, and even bombs onto the battlefield to help your partner even when you were out. It’s one of those modes that you need to play for yourself to truly grasp the addictiveness of it all. Since it’s a multiplayer game, this mode really has the potential of becoming the next Fall Guys, especially since the little characters move the same way as the Fall Guys.
Rocket animal
The second mode was a Soccer mini-game where we were divided into two teams of four. It’s basically Rocket League with derpy animals trying to score three points to secure the crown. Nothing innovating or new here to be honest but a lot of fun nevertheless. It’s the meeting with most laughs and happy faces so that certainly tells something. It’s not the biggest or most innovative game in Xbox’s upcoming portfolio but I can see this becoming a hit during gaming nights.
Early conclusion
A silly but fun multiplayer game that will make you laugh and have tons of fun. It doesn’t always have to be the biggest or most beautiful game out there, as long as you’re having fun!
