Welcome to our review of Kukoos: Lost pets, a fun game with a truly bad music score, the earworm of all times is present in this game!
Welcome to the exciting world of the Kukoos! On a planet covered in water, a fun and adventurous species known as the Kukoos live on the only island that is home to the Kukoo tree. After an experiment in which the Kukoos attempt to make their pets more obedient goes haywire, it is up to the Kukoos to find their newly aggressive and unruly pets and regain control, restoring harmony to the once peaceful Kukoo tree.
Travel through secret worlds within the massive Kukoo tree to find your friends and end the pet rebellion! This charming 3D platformer takes you across the vast and colourful Kukoo universe, where you’ll take charge of an array of pets and use their individual abilities to battle against unique bosses, find hidden collectibles, and solve ancient puzzles. Journey solo or team up with up to three friends to enjoy a four-player adventure unlike anything you’ve seen before!
Kukoos: Lost Pets is quite fun and at first, you would just call it a mix between Fall Guys and your everyday great platformer, I am thinking games like Sackboy here, you know, a good experience. It really is, a slightly difficult tutorial at first, it is kind of complicated “out of the box” and I would just say to struggle through it.
Once you finally finish those few minutes, the game starts off actually easier than you’d expect. It all comes down to the basics of platforming, finding out what kills you and what is most important, save points. The latter is abundantly present, so there is a short run usually in between them.
What is slightly more of a challenge, the borders are easily missed and yes, you can fall down to your demise really easily. At least I did more than I would have liked, probably game mechanics-wise, the only negative comment I would write in this review. The entire game is just fun to play and it is a lot of the usual when playing platformers, the more you play, the better you get at it.
What I did not like however, is the incredibly obnoxious soundtrack and its repetitive nature. It is like getting the worst possible earworm and it just keeps going nanananana, endlessly, when you think it is done… It just restarts, nanananana, God, make it stop! Truly obnoxious in an otherwise great game. Sure I had some bugs here and there, but nothing as disturbing as that music…
In conclusion, Kukoos: Lost Pets might be the perfect example of how fun a platformer can be, but without the proper music, it can get tedious to play. I wish it was different, but the music is really making it lose a full point. I ended up playing the game with other music on…
