So when I heard this series was being turned into a game, I was very curious to see who would be doing it and I was relieved it turned out to be Outright games, a studio that really knows what they do when it comes to teen/kid oriented games, which I really appreciate. Their hardest part in my humble opinion would be to create a game out of the series.

And they did, they created a great combination between the better puzzle work and sadly some lackluster fighting. I call it lackluster because it is really just basic fighting and I kind of had my hopes up due to their excellent work in the past. Most of the time, you are just dodging and punching or shooting your gun. Nothing that impressive, sadly.

The puzzles though, now those are the bomb, they are lit and possibly some of the best I have had in a very long time. I know the game would be incredibly niche if it only had these, but it would have been pretty much the perfect game, all about running power through lines and you have blocks that influence the flow. From always to the left or right or straight ahead, to everywhere…

It is such a delight to use the twin player system to move one block to the next place while waiting to move the other peon to the next phase, you would forget you are playing a Star Trek game. Which is also the very big elephant in the room, the game is all about the animation, do not come into  this expecting Deep Space 9 combat or fighting the Borg, no, this is a children’s animation and that makes it something not so “trekkie oriented” in my humble opinion. I consider myself a lover of most of the series, but no Trekkie, I will admit that Star Trek Prodigy is a very low ranked series in the greater ST universe.

In conclusion, Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova brings us lackluster fighting and amazing puzzles, if you are into that, this is the perfect game for you!
