Missed the special Splatoon 3 Direct? Time for a recap!
We start off the presentation with a view of Splatsville, our hosts start off with the basic mechanics of the game series. Splatting ink and recharging when submerged. First, Turf War! The classic of 4v4 where the team covering the most ink wins.
Scorch Gorge, Undertow Spillway, Eeltail Alley, Mincemeat Metalworks, Hagglefish Market, Museum d’Alfonsino, Hammerhead Bridge, Mahi Mahi Resort, Inkblot Art Academy, Sturgeon Shipyard, Makomart and Wahoo world are the 12 stages announced for when the game debuts. More to come via free updates!
Weapons, the basic tools of any shooter, are introduced, Stringers, Splatanas, Splatana Wiper are new. Special weapons are Tacticooler, a fridge that brings in game upgrades, the Wave Breaker, releasing waves in the area, The Reefslider, a fish like cycle and so much more.
For the fans of Sheldon, the character is back with even more inventory. While he provides us with weapons, the game will have tons of clothing options. Gnarly Eddy for your headwear, Jel La Fleur for all your tops needs, Mr Coco for your favourite kicks or just plain sandals, this shoeseller has it all.
All clothes still come with their own perks and after you find Murch in town, you can even add one specific perk to your gear. All in order to get that edge.
4 additional modes to play: Splat zones, Tower control, Rainmaker and Clam Blitz. The test range is back as well, so you can always try new ways to play or just hone your best splatting skills.
A new mode is Ghosts, where you can get access to friends playing and so much more, there are also options to share and view replays available now.
What I really liked, the locker function, where you can personalise your stuff, just one part of how customised the game has become. From badges to emotes, … all can be obtained via an in-game catalog. 2 year updates announced for this as well!
There also appears to be a tactical game called Table turf battle, a 2D 1v1 spin off from basic fighting.
Splatoon 3 will also be getting a new Salmon Run! This is one of my personal favourites and new boss salmonids have been announced. Get ready for an even more dangerous Salmon Run!
A variety of other options were announced like that mailbox where we will be spammed with “woke” messages whenever something happens in real life. There is a picture taking function and so much more.
Amiibo support and new amiibo announced! How cool are these? Set for release in the winter.
Now, in regards to updates, catalogs will be updated for years, same for battle modes, weapons, more dificulty levels, … Major PAID DLC will be added later on as well.
