During Gamescom 2022, I had the pleasure of talking with Maja Sand-Grimnitz, EPOS’s Director, Brand Management & Global Gaming Marketing specialist. We talked about the upcoming EPOS products and the future of the brand. Want to learn more? Let’s jump in!
An Introduction to EPOS
Before we jump deeper into the upcoming EPOS products, let’s first take a look at what EPOS stands for and what they want to offer to the gaming market. EPOS is established upon a successful joint venture between audio specialist Sennheiser and the world-leading hearing technology group Demant. EPOS designs manufactures and sells pioneering high-end audio and video solutions for business professionals and serious gamers. What makes them stand out from the crowd is the simple yet modern design of the products. During my interview with Maja Sand-Grimnitz I noticed the entire EPOS catalog behind her which was all crafted in solid blacks, stylish white, or modern green colors. There’s no RGB madness or funny cat ears, EPOS wants to deliver quality while keeping its minimalist design to fit the gaming room of professionals.
EPOS audio is engineered to bring forward every important sound cue to provide that ultimate gaming experience. Immersive sound that cuts out the rest of the world and transports you into a different reality. Thanks to their connection to group Demant, they understand audio like no other player on the market. During my interview, I learned more about the impressive technological approach EPOS calls BrainAdapt.
BrainAdapt
When EPOS designs a product, they always have the best possible audio in the back of their minds. It starts with selecting the right materials to let you enjoy your gameplay as much as possible while keeping unwanted sound out. By using high-quality memory foam of different densities for comfort and acoustic performance, EPOS’ headsets are both robust and ensure the best possible seal, no matter the head shape. But, selecting the right materials is only the first step. Being part of group Demant, EPOS has a huge advantage over its competitor. By following the results of the psychoacoustic research facilities, EPOS uses all data to come up with better sound solutions. That’s why you won’t miss a word from a team-mate while using the EPOS H6PRO for example as it’s designed to have 35% less effort listing, enabling you to have 10% better memory recall. This is thanks to the technology called BrainAdapt, which is unique for the industry.
The BrainAdapt technology is created after years of specialized research, looking into the impact of audio on the brain. Too many tones or too deep basses will overload your brain, making it harder to focus and remember what was said to you if you spend hours playing a game. At EPOS they use this amazing research to understand the brain better and adjust their audio devices to this research. Although it might be a bit invisible for the end consumer, it does mean that they’ll be able to enjoy EPOS audio better and longer compared to the competition. It’s an amazing process and it immediately justifies the mid-premium price point of the EPOS products. When you’re buying EPOS, you’re buying quality, that’s what the brand is all about. But what about the upcoming products? Let’s take a look!
Upcoming products
Aside from the impressive technology behind the EPOS catalog, I also got the opportunity to talk about upcoming releases. Although EPOS will continue to improve the products that are available right now, with a software update or newer hardware version, the company is also focussing on two new products.
The first one is the GSX 1000 2nd Edition, which is an External Sound Card featuring EPOS’ best-in-class 7.1 surround sound and separate game audio and chat stream mixing. This is one for the fans of external sound cards of course but it does look like a very impressive new product. You can instantly switch between 4 custom profiles, speaker, or headset modes with fast and handy fingertip touch controls. This audio card gives you the freedom you need and expects while staying stylish thanks to its black design and red lights. It also uses the BrainAdapt technology and is launching in Q4 2022 for 199.
The second upcoming product is the S6 a compact and industry-leading 4K webcam that’s perfect for streaming and home office use. I got my hands on this webcam during the interview and it’s by far the smallest and lightest webcam I ever touched. Although it’s small and light, it packs a punch when it comes to its specifications. Delivering ultra-sharp 2160p that rivals the human eye this will be one of the best streaming webcams out there. No matter the conditions, the S6 uses automatic light correction to make your content picture-perfect. It also comes with a dual integrated microphone with digital noise cancellation to ensure your voice always takes center stage. With the help of the EPOS Connect software, you can personalize your video settings easily. An impressive piece of technology that will please a lot of streamers without a doubt. It’s releasing Q4 2022 for 199.
Besides the new products, EPOS also made sure to mention that they’ll continue EPOS Gaming Suite support with new firmware/software updates, keeping the software as good as possible without costing you anything.
With the new products, EPOS now has a perfect set-up for gamers looking to become professional streamers. With the quality webcam, soundcard, and one of EPOS’ impressive headsets or microphones, you’ll be set for the coming years. It’s clear that EPOS is here to stay in the gaming market and they really understand the desire of gamers as well as they understand audio. I can’t wait to see what the future will hold but I’m sure it will come with a lot of amazing new products!
