Nintendo hosted a new Direct Mini Partner Showcase, focussing on some fantastic upcoming third-party games. Missed the show? Here’s a summary!
Oke! Here we go!
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak
We start with a title from Capcom with a beautiful artwork video. Time to fight the abyss and dragons in this brand new Monster Hunter title which looks stunning. It’s all about the wandering flames this time. Oh, and the soundtrack is fantastic as well. They are releasing on June 30 with a demo available now. They also showed a roadmap with more free content updates!
Nier Automata – The End of Yorha Edition
This incredibly cool title is making its way to the Nintendo Switch. Time to power up your inner android to fight off machine beings. I can’t wait to see how this will run on the Nintendo Switch. It includes all the previously released costumes, with some Nintendo exclusive ones. It is launching on October 6!
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes
Next is a murder mystery title! Time to become surreal in this new puzzle adventure game. Dropping 2023
Super Bomberman R2
A new Bomberman game! With castle mode (up to 15 players), you must take an enemy castle down while one player defends it.
MegaMan Battle Network!
MegaMan Battlenetwork is one of the best MegaMan games on the GBA, and it launches on the Nintendo Switch next year (in two volumes).
PacMan World Repack
This more platforming take on PacMan is a remake of the original PacMan, which launches on August 26.
Blanc
A handcrafted world with a deer and a wolf must solve puzzles to help each other to survive in the world. Completely text-free, but looks fantastic. February 2023 is the release date.
Return to Monkey Island
Time for a Pirate Adventure! This can only mean one thing. The Return of Monkey Island! Another 90s classic is making its remake way back to the Nintendo Switch. More Point & Click goodness. 2022 as the release date (this year).
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Yes! More Mario + Rabbids! I love the whole space theme and the mixture of Galaxy elements. It gives much more freedom than in the previous game, so this should be good! Also, Rabbid Rosalina looks cute as hell. October 20!
Little Noah: Scion of Paradise
A post-apocalyptic party RPG? Looks excellent and launches later today!
RAILGRADE
Alllll aboard! Another rail simulator. It looks great and is less realistic than the Japanese simulator I played a few months back—time to check this one out in the fall.
RPG Time: The Legend of Wright
Time to draw an RPG! An RPG that can be drawn, erased, and created in the Notebook – August 18.
Sonic Frontiers
Compared to Breath of the Wild, the open-world Sonic people are also launching on the Nintendo Switch. It looked good, but still.. the world looked so empty. I don’t know if this is what we’re searching for. Cutscenes look good, though – we’ll see what happens this holiday season.
Disney Dreamlight Valley
The Disney x Animal Crossing title with a dash of Sims. The trailer looks great, and I can’t wait to check this one out. Big fan of both the Disney & Pixar universe, and I had a lot of fun with Animal Crossing, so this should be good. Launching in early access on September 6.
Live a Live
Oh man, this looks great! Multiple storylines and multiple periods all in one game. A demo with three chapters is available later today, with the option to transfer your data to the full game when bought.
DORAEMON STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of the Great Kingdom
Not sure if this will be a big hit in Europe, but the trailer looks like a combination between Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing/Rune Factory. (Or just a Story of Seasons with Doraemon put into it).
Minecraft Legends
Another action-adventure Minecraft title looks excellent – still Minecrafty. It launches next year.
Dragon Quest Treasures
Time to travel to Draconia! Treasure hunt in the spinoff of the Dragon Quest series. The artwork looks great, and the gameplay looks fun; I can’t wait to check this out on December 9.
Reel:
Next up is a reel of releases by Nintendo and partners, including:
- Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes
- No Man Sky – October 7
- A Plague Tale: Requiem (Cloud Version) – October 18 (no word on the first one, though)
- Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions – July 28
CAKE!
Suprise – The Portal Collection is dropping on the Nintendo Switch later today.
Harvestella
Another Square Enix title – more farming, more crafting, and more.. monster hunting? Weird combination, but this could work! Feels like a combination between harvest Moon & Rune Factory, with a few Dystopian elements. It is dropping on November 4.
Persona
Dropping on October 21, it’s the Persona 5 Royal, with the Persona 4 Golden & Persona 3 Portable collection dropping later. Seems like the complete versions (and not the cloud versions).
And that’s a wrap! What are your thoughts?
