Review: Razer Viper V2 Pro

The Razer Viper Pro really made a name for itself as one of the best eSports-orientated computer mice currently on the market. Although it’s one of the most loved Razer products out there, there’s always room for improvement. Enter the Viper V2 Pro, Razer’s lightest mouse to date. Is it worth the extra buck? Let’s find out!

Strong design, light as a feather

When you take the Razer Viper V2 Pro out of the box, you’ll immediately be impressed by its design. It’s not an overcomplex design but a nice and tight right-hand symmetrical design. Since it’s one of Razer’s Pro products, there’s no RGB lighting on the Razer logo here, it’s just a very modern white design with a black Razer logo in the center (we received the white version for this review). I love the way this mouse looks as it really feels and looks like a product of quality. If you’re using this during tournaments, your competitors will immediately know you mean business. Besides the looks, the weight is what makes a huge difference on the Viper V2 Pro. This is without a doubt the lightest mouse I ever had and is as light as a tennis ball, which truly is impressive. Since it’s so light, it’s easy to move on any service and take down your enemies with ease. Of course, this weight did come at a cost. Razer removed the ability to store the wireless dongle inside of the mouse so you better not lose sight of that crucial little part. Besides that, it also only has two extra buttons on the left side of the mouse, the extra buttons on the right side disappeared, making it a bit easier to use for right-handed people, even though it still remains an ambidextrous design if you really want to. That being said, those are small sacrifices in my opinion for the incredible weight you get in return. I never had a mouse this light and I wouldn’t want to go back to heavier options. After spending a couple of weeks with the Viper V2 Pro, I can easily say it quickly became my favorite computer mouse, even when I’m not gaming.

Peak performance

When it comes to performance, this mouse is top of the line, especially if you’re a competitive gamer. The Razer Focus Pro 30K optic sensor with its impressive 30.000 DPI and a top speed of 750 inches per second, the new sensor clearly delivers what you need to perform well in high-paced games. On top of that, you can also toggle to some pre-set DPI settings or change them to your liking with the Razer Synapse app, which gives you a lot of extra options in order to find the perfect pre-set for your gaming preferences. One minor downside of the DPI settings is the fact that the button to change between profiles is placed underneath the mouse itself. In order to make it as light as possible, the DPI button is merged with the on/off button. If you want to turn on/off the mouse, you’ll have the push the power button for a couple of seconds, if you want to change the DPI profile, you’ll simply have to click the button. It’s nothing that really takes away from the quality of the actual product but it’s worth mentioning nevertheless. It’s clear that the weight combined with the impressive specs are the main selling point of the Viper V2 Pro and it really excels at both of those things.

Conclusion:

The Razer Viper V2 Pro is another impressive Razer product that does exactly what it advertises. In this case, it offers you one of the lightest professional eSports-orientated options currently on the market. Thanks to its impressive performance and customizable options, this is a computer mouse that you can easily use in several types of games. It comes at a higher price and some features were cut in favor of the weight but if you’re looking for a light, yet powerful gaming mouse, this is the one you’ll need!
