The EPOS H3Pro Hybrid wireless headset is another powerhouse when it comes to high-end gaming headsets. I’ve spent a couple of weeks with the sleek new Ghost White version and was very impressed by its quality and compatibility. Looking for a new wireless headset? Let me tell you why the EPOS H3Pro Hybrid is one of the better options currently on the market.
Out of the box
The moment you see the EPOS H3Pro Hybrid, you’ll immediately see that you’re handling a product of quality. I received the new Ghost White color and I must say, I’m a big fan of those colors! Inside the box, you’ll find the headset and a little black box containing the extras. Besides the headset, you’ll find a long USB cable to use the headset on your PC or to charge it, which we recommend you do since you don’t want to take the headset off once you’re getting used to it. Next to the USB cable, you’ll find a handy plastic cover to replace the detachable microphone, a 3.5mm jack to use the headset on your console’s controllers, a USB-A extension cable, the dongle to use it wirelessly on every system, even without Bluetooth, and of course a manual. As you can see, the box is rather packed with options and for a premium headset, I wasn’t expecting anything less. If you buy this one in stores, you can be assured that you don’t need to buy any extra cable or connection port in order to use it to its full potential. The EPOS H3Pro Hybrid is ready to go, directly out of its stylish box.
Although the box is very stylish and premium, the same can be said about the headset itself. It combines some metallic elements with a harder white plastic case while still remaining a lightweight headset. I like the way the cups rest on your ears and even after hours of gaming or watching a series, I never endured any pain or annoyance while wearing the EPOS H3Pro Hybrid, the soft material of the cups really helps with the level of comfort. Overall, I love the design of the headset a lot. It’s not your typical gamer headset with RGB lights, instead, you’ll get a very modern and stylish headset that you can take with you everywhere you go. Wherever you use it, it still looks and feels like a premium headset, so you’ll be able to enjoy your audio in the best way possible.
One headset to rule them all
One of the EPOS H3Pro Hybrid’s biggest selling points is its compatibility with a lot of devices. This isn’t one of those headsets that you buy and can only use on one specific system, the headset is meant to be used as your primary and go-to headset. Where other headsets on the market offer a single dongle solution to connect to several devices, the H3Pro does things a bit more natively. First of all, it has a powerful Bluetooth connection for wireless use on your mobile device. Want to use it wirelessly on your favorite gaming console or PC? The low latency dongle will give you exactly that. Not convinced of wireless use? The headset also supports USB or 3.5 jack connections so you can even connect it to one of your controllers. It’s amazing to see how well everything works and how good the headset sounds, no matter what device it’s connected to. This certainly is a pro headset when it comes to connections and versatility.
To make it even better, you can connect different audio sources to your headset. This means you can easily enjoy your gaming audio while chatting with your friends on Discord or Skype. If you, for example, use the wired 3.5mm jack on your console, you can also still use the Bluetooth connection to connect the headset to your mobile device. That way, you’re able to enjoy your game audio while you’re talking and having fun with your friends using a third-party communication app. I love the amount of freedom this headset gives you and it’s by far one of its most impressive features, aside from the stellar sound and active noise cancellation, of course.
But how does it sound?
But, the most important question of course is how well does it sound? Well, the EPOS H3Pro Hybrid doesn’t disappoint at all. It really is able to deliver all those tones that you need in gaming. From high-pitched notes to deep bases, it’s all there and really elevates the immersion tremendously. I love how well the basses work while playing shooters like Call of Duty or while listing to the epic soundtrack of Halo Infinite. Like any other good gaming headset, this one can certainly give you an edge in online matches. The sound quality is amazing, and although its higher price tag of 279 bucks is rather steep for a lot of gamers, it’s certainly worth every cent. If you’re using it in the comfort of your home, the volume and earcups make sure you won’t be bothered by the noises around you, if you want complete immersion, you can switch on the active noise cancellation on the headset. The ANC will shorten the battery a bit but it’s worth using for sure since it completely cuts you off and enables you to fully and completely immerse yourself in your favorite game. With a normal battery life of around 12 hours, the ANC isn’t something you should doubt about using, especially when you’re playing your favorite games in crowded places. The ANC technology is one of the best I’ve tested in the same price range of competitive headsets. The EPOS H3Pro Hybrid is here to impress and clearly delivers on its promise.
The audio is stellar and definitely one of the best options on the market. When it comes to the detachable microphone, it’s okay. Nothing really special as stand-alone microphones still have an edge over headsets while streaming. That being said, the microphone still delivers clean and crisp audio so your teammates won’t have any trouble understanding what you’re saying. Since I played a lot of solo games while testing the headset, it’s also worth pointing out that the microphone cover is a gift from the heavens. If you’re not using the microphone, you can easily detach it since it’s magnetically connected to the base. If you’re not using it, you can use a cover clip to give your headset that sleek and solid design.
Conclusion:
The EPOS H3Pro Hybrid is an impressive premium headset that truly delivers and even exceeds your expectations. It comes at a rather high price but the quality and compatibility you get in return are unmatched. This is by far one of the best hybrid wireless headsets on the market and the best thing about it is the fact that you can use it on multiple systems. If you’re looking for a new wireless headset, this is the one you need to own.
