Review: King of Fighters XV

Welcome to our review of King of Fighters XV, a game that didn’t discover hot water, but does a great job at heating up the room when you play!

Since its debut in 1994, the KOF fighting game series has been driving the world to new heights of excitement with its appealing characters and unique game system. Six years have passed since the last title in the series, and now KOF XV surpasses all of its predecessors in terms of graphics, systems, and online experience!

A total of 39 playable fighters at launch! Classic popular characters, heroes and villains revived from the dead, new challengers, and more! The most epic dream match in KOF history is about to begin! KOF’s story reaches its climax! The latest KOF Saga continues from the previous title in Story Mode. A ton of specials for fans of the universe.

As mentioned before, the often lackluster single-player mode didn’t discover the hot water. It is what it is, a perfectly fine way to hone your skills and get in some action. Nothing special but also nothing disappointing as King of Fighters games are often top-tier fighting games, this version is no exception.

Its main selling point is and always will be the amazing multi-player mode, you against a friend or some random stranger on the internet. I have to say, while the solo mode is easily mastered, online play is where it really shines and will get you pushing in hours of organized button mashing, almost like you are composing a masterpiece as a musician.

What I really loved, yes, I am a guy, the amount of fanservice in this game. Both the girls and guys are really so well made and some scantily clad ladies sure did make the temperature rise in my gaming room during my gaming sessions. To give you an idea, the anatomy of a scantily clad lady makes certain body parts shake very actively and I lost a few games when I started noticing that and stopped playing seriously to just laugh.

In a way, I wish we did not have so much boin boin action and more serious action, but it comes with the territory and I am more comfortable with this style rather than some older ones that seemingly had the most unnatural implants instead of breasts. They just would not move and in KOF 15, the entire anatomy just feels more realistic to me. I really loved it.

In conclusion, while it is not a gaming franchise I tend to go to for a fighting game, I do love Street Fighter due to nostalgia, I do feel like King of Fighters XV might remain my go-to game for some destressing after a hard days’ of work. It is just a very strong title.
