Hands-off preview: Marvel’s Avengers – Spider-Man event

We were lucky to be invited to a sneak preview of the new 2.2 patch in the Marvel Avengers game and we can finally share everything we saw!

First of all, Marvel Avengers is a game that is constantly evolving and we are now reaching the third real phase of this game. I found this very informative screen on the Square Enix blog and it shows perfectly what to expect and what previous updates have given us.

Teamwork, communication, tactics—you’ll want to assemble your best four-player squad for this one. Following the events of the War for Wakanda Expansion, the sonic monster Klaw has returned to the Vibranium Mound with a seething determination to destroy Wakanda. This is where you finish him off for good and claim the highest-end gear—but he’s so not going down without a fight.

Spider-Man and the With Great Power Hero Event: The iconic web-slinger Spider-Man will come exclusively to PlayStation players in the November 30 update along with the Spider-Man: With Great Power Hero Event! You’ll experience Spider-Man’s story through unlockable challenges woven throughout the Avengers Initiative. Here’s a quick taste of his journey in Marvel’s Avengers! Peter Parker uncovers AIM’s new plan to acquire technology that could make their Synthoid army unstoppable and total domination inevitable. He must partner with the Avengers to stop this looming threat, and forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow while keeping his identity hidden. As a Hero accustomed to working solo, he struggles with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full-time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?

This new content will bring a lot of fun to a lot of gamers, but what struck me, is the sheer amount of action now going on on a single screen. Tons of enemies, nearing Musou levels so to speak, but each literally being their own powerhouse and it seems up to you, the player, to defeat all. Including some massive enemies that were shown and I must say, I previously stopped playing the game, due to time constraints, but this preview made me wonder how the new content would play.

I watched Spider-Man, Black Panther, Iron man, and others kick ass and I think there are more moves than ever. They also announced a lot more upgrading and max levels, which can obviously only be obtained through either hard work or mindless grinding. The moveset of Spidey also looks quite fun to play with, from spider-sense to shooting webs at enemies, I think I will be reinstalling the game tonight.

In conclusion, well, not really in conclusion as I have not had a hands-on, but a hands-off, I have to admit that what was shown, may tempt me to bring me back and that is saying a lot!
