Square Enix held its own showcase called Square Enix Presents. Missed the event? Time for our summary!

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Square Enix starts off with a game from Eidos. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The game will be a single-player, action-adventure game where you control the space lord as well as the other members of your crew. Guardians of the Galaxy is story-driven with dialogue options that impact how the game will be played. It’s set out to be not the same as either the movie or the comics but the Eidos give their own spin on things.  After the trailer, a deep-dive is shown talking about the design process and more details about the game. This is followed by gameplay to make for a great reveal. The game will release October 26 2021.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is coming to Mobile and Steam soon. Experience the games that inspired a whole generation once more. This will cover all the original 6 2D Final Fantasy games from I till VI. No date or further gameplay details were announced.

Legend of Mana

As was already announced before, Legend of Mana will get a remaster to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Mana series. The remaster features the beloved colourful cast of characters, exciting real-time combat, and the option to alternate between the original or new rearranged music as well as much more quality of life improvements. Legend of Mana will be available 24th of June 2021.

Marvel Aventures Expansion: Black Panter: War for Wakanda

Marvel Aventures will receive some new content with Black Panter: War for Wakanda. Black Panther must defend Wakanda from Klaw, who seeks to steal Vibranium for his own desires.  The trailer is completely cinematic but looking at it we have high hopes for the gameplay. The expansion will be available in August 2021.

Square Enix Mobile Games

Next up are some short trailers for upcoming mobile games and new content mobile games that were already out. One of the most exciting games are mobile games in the Hitman and NieR series.

Babylon’s Fall

Babylon’s Fall is a new game by Square Enix developed in partnership with PlatinumGames. This action-adventure game features co-op-combat, powerful weapons and a unique, striking art style. After this trailer more details were shared in an interview with the developers. No release date is shared.

Life is Strange Remastered Collection

The decision-based game Life is Strange is getting a remastered collection containing both, Life is Stange and Life is Strange Before the Storm. This gives the characters and the game more details and better lighting as well as improved animation and lip-sync.

Life is Strange: True Colors

Next up a new trailer is shown of the new entry in the Life of Strange Series, Life of Strange True Colors. In this trailer more is shown about the gameplay and story. As in the other Life of Strange games the main character, Alex has special abilities. She can feel and interact with peoples auras. You can take away peoples emotions but at what cause. Find out when it releases on September 10th 2021.

Stranger of Paradise

Next up a new action-based game is shown off,  called Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. Together with team Ninja as well as the veterans behind the Final Fantasy VII Remake they are set to deliver a bold new vision on the Final Fantasy franchise. In this journey, Jack and his allies, Ash and Jed, burn with resolve to defeat Chaos as they throw open the gates to the Chaos Shrine. Step into a world of dark fantasy and revel in the exhilarating, action-packed battles. Stranger of Paradise is set for a 2022 release.

Conclusion

I think the Square Enix stream was good. There were no massive shocking announcements from an already well-proven franchise. What was shown was a solid assortment of games all with some excellent trailers and most of them with a good chunk of actual gameplay which is always a big plus.
