We all know stick figures. Well back in the 2000s when I was a kid flash games were all the rage. These were often simple and short games that were played in your web browser for free. One of the most popular genres of games within the flash era was stick figures. These simple characters were everywhere from the early days of YouTube as well. Stick Fight: The Game is a throwback to this era of games that has sadly ended last year when flash was taken down.
Sticks and Guns
Stick Fight: The game is published by Landfall Games, who you can know from games like Clustertrucks and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator. Stick Fight is a simple physics-based free-for-all game where you as the name suggests fight with stick figures. You control 1 of 4 different colored stick figures in a fight to be the last stick standing. Randomly guns and weapons will drop for you to pick up and use. From revolvers and grenade launchers to snake guns and swords. This all plays out on 100 different stages, some with some twist elements in them such as moving blocks, spikes, etc. There even are some stages that are boss stages. There is no clear end to the game. Just try to win the most fights so you earn a crown showing off you are the best.
PC is the way to go
The game is best enjoyed when played with friends and can get boring fast when playing with randoms. Stick fight lets you battle it out against your friends in a local couch co-op or can be played online. On the Switch, online can only be played with random fellow sticks, so there is sadly no way to play with your friends online. The PC version, however, lets you play with friends online as well as local. Aiming your weapons on PC is done with the mouse, which works way better than with a control stick on a console. With a mouse, it’s easier to adjust ever so slightly as well as being able to turn around the weapon to the opposite side more easily.
These things coupled with the fact that on the Nintendo Switch, this game is available for €6 while on steam available for €5, makes the game best played on the PC.
Conclusion
Stick Fight: The Game is silly good fun and is best enjoyed when playing with your friends however switch version only lets you play with your friends locally. The game is just silly, simple and quick physics-based fun with no end. It all depends on how much silly fun you can handle before it gets old. If you are interested in the game and have a PC available, I suggest you buy it there. It is hard to compare/rank such a game like this to others. The PC version earns an 8/10 because of the better controls and online play.
