Review: PAW Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay

Welcome to our review of PAW Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay! A game that kids will love!

Join the Super Patrol on superheroic missions to save Adventure Bay.
A fallen meteor has given the pups mighty powers – and left Adventure Bay in a mighty mess. Now, it’s up to you and the Pups to use their powers, rescue skills and gadgets to make the town PAWsome again!

Embark on a super-heroic mission with the Mighty Pups and Chase’s Super Speed, Marshall’s Mighty Heat, Skye’s Whirlwind Power, and the whole mighty PAW Patrol team. Explore the town and journey to Jake’s resort, Tracker’s jungle, and beyond. With a whole town to help out and 2-player co-op fun, Adventure Bay has never been so interactive!

Obviously, it is not easy to review a game intended for the youngest among us. Being 43 myself, I can almost say I was in a pickle when I got the review code. Having played the previous PAW Patrol game, I did know what to expect and this game is no different.

As the game is based on the PAW Patrol license, expect to see many bright colors and easy gameplay. Perfect for the youngest kids among us but cringe-worthy for anybody else, but hey they are not meant for older kids or adults, this is a game for young players. As such it is a decent approach for a franchise turned video game.

The game itself is mostly a fixed camera game where you collect pup treats and perform tasks that will help people in need much like the series. Most of these tasks are incredibly easy but I must say it wasn’t boring as an experience, maybe gathering all the items was a little much for me personally but I never felt like I was playing the most boring game ever made.

What is truly noticeable is the number of mini-games present in the game. After successfully finishing a level, which is not really that hard, you are granted certain mini-games and the further down the game you go, the more of them you will collect. Among those games, there was an easy approach to Dance Dance Revolution, truck driving while plowing snow, …

In the early stages, you are mostly a duo of PAW Patrol pups with each their own special skill. In the first level for example one of the two was able to recycle rocks on the beach, the other able to clean up piles of junk. All about teaching good manners and good behavior, such is the principle behind Papa troll in my personal opinion.

While it is easy to switch between pups, the one thing that did get on my nerve however was the nonstop talking of the guy in charge, he never shuts up and his explanations just go on and on and on. I don’t know how the young ones will see this but for me this was annoying. Also, the longer length of the cut screens was something I did not fully appreciate. It is like I had seen them in the previous game already and they just felt like a bad dream at times.

The game is clearly not for me but I can tell you this, I do think it will be of great value for any kid between four years old and seven. The genres it mixes into the whole that is the game, it is very diverse and should provide with some great party fun. Not my Cup of tea but I can see little kids having fun with it.

In conclusion, PAW Patrol is worth your consideration if you got young kids running around the house. You may even want to buy it for an adult as a joke game… But no, in all seriousness I think young kids will enjoy it.
