Welcome to our review of Zombie Driver: Immortal Edition, a game that lets you mow down tons of zombies by driving straight through em!
Fight your way through the streets of a zombie-infested city to save the survivors of a disastrous chemical accident that changed most of the city’s population into mindless brain-hungry monsters. Time is the enemy and your car is a weapon as you race through the streets smashing everything on your way including fences, phone booths, street lamps and hordes of zombies. If you get tired of rescuing people, take part in the Blood Race tournament.
Chase other cars and take them down without mercy on special racing tracks populated with the zombie horde. Earn loads of cash while you progress through the events, unlock new rides and purchase weapons of mass destruction to become the ultimate Blood Race leaderboard champion. If the car chases and speed runs are not your thing, jump into the Slaugher mode where your objective is to survive as long as possible while ramping up enormous kill combos and annihilating endless waves of zombies on specially crafted arenas.
If there is one thing Zombie Driver does, it is take advantage of the fad about zombies and do just about everything you’d think about doing with any vehicle when faced with tons of zombies. Whether it is a tank, a taxi, or a fire truck, you can pretty much do anything you want with the game, but it comes with some caveats.
The most fun, you will have by upgrading your vehicle to its max and literally be able to run through massive hordes of zombies. Including the next horde and the one after that, whether it is just by speeding through em or using one of many weapons at your disposal.
Also noteworthy is the fact that you will annoy yourself at first at the camera point of views and the in-game map. I really think something more could be done with it, might be a minor inconvenience for some, but I disliked it more than just a few missions.
Where this game gets its main audience, mindless violence and while it is easy at first, those boss fights are on a completely different level. I would say Zombie Driver is fun, yet that small time needed to get you hooked is completely depending on whether or not you can overlook the downsides in the game. You do earn money for every zombie mowed down, but well, at times you do want to just get through the level or boss fight.
So really, can mindless fun be enough to keep you going? I think tons of other games have gone ahead of Zombie Driver and I do not really think it needs any further explanation. You either like mindless games or you do not, sadly I prefer a less blank experience though.
In conclusion, Zombie Driver is everything you think it will be. Good old fashioned killing of zombies by any vehicles at your disposal. I knew it was not going to be a high standard game and as such, I did enjoy myself, but if you want something more serious to play, this is one to avoid.
