Top 5: Gamescom: Opening Night Live 2020

In a world without COVID-19, we would have played a lot of upcoming games and reconnected with numerous members from the gaming industry during Gamescom 2020. Sadly, there is no physical event this year but that doesn’t mean there’s no reason to get excited. The Gamescom: Opening Night Live 2020 delivered what a lot of fans were hoping for: more games, and more fun! Here’s our personal top 5 of the night.

5) The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu Game Pack

This reveal will get a lot of fans excited for sure. It’s not the first time The Sims and Star Wars worked together, but never like this. This Game Pack offers way more than a couple of special items and costumes, this is a true story-driven expansion set in the gorgeous world of Star Wars. It’s like writing your own life and adventures in one of the most iconic universes out there and we can’t wait to go test it out.

4) Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition

It’s not the first time we saw the game and it’s one we’ve been waiting for since its initial reveal years ago. The Definitive Edition of Age of Empires III is releasing this October and adds a lot of new things to look forward to besides the impressive-looking graphics. Check it out here:

3) Medal of Honor: Above and beyond

Respawn Entertainment’s new and upcoming Medal of Honor: Above and beyond got featured during the Opening Night and it looked really impressive. The franchise is finally back and just like in the old days, it’s trying to do something new. The answer for Above and beyond is VR. This game puts you into the shoes of a soldier, offering a truly immersive story-driven adventure. I’m guessing it’s going to be an unforgettable experience.

2) Fall Guys Season 2

There’s no way around this game. Fall Guys is everywhere and it’s one of my most-played games at this very moment. Although everybody is having a tremendous amount of fun, there’s still a lot to look forward to in the future. During the Opening Night, we got to see what Season 2 holds in store and we weren’t disappointed at all! It’s all Medieval in season two. Epic new costumes and new courses, all in the style of that era. It’s looking like a lot of chaotic fun for sure!

1) Little Nightmares II

This was the game I was hoping to see again. During last year’s Gamescom, I had the opportunity to interview the developers of the game and I’m glad to see that the actual gameplay reveal lived up to my expectations. This still has that same Little Nightmares atmosphere we all love and Mono, our new protagonist, really fits in the dark world. The bosses looked great and I simply can’t wait to get my hands on this upcoming game! It’s releasing this February.
