Do you feel the need to go fast and kill? If the answer is yes, then Post Void might be a fun game for you! Post Void is a frantic arcade-like first-person shooter. And yes, this title needs the overload of adjectives. The game looks like a hand-drawn shooter from the early nineties. You start off with a skull filled with your health and a handgun. But frustratingly enough your character holds the skull upside down and your health is constantly leaking out. How do you stay alive then you might ask? Well simple, kill. When you kill something, it refills your health a bit.
The second part of the game is going fast. You have to kill quickly to keep your health up and to run to the end of the level. When you get to the end you jump into a white pool and gives you a powerup for the next level.
The powerups vary from having more ammo per clip, more health in your container to straight-up changing your gun for a shotgun, an uzi, or even a knife. You have to choose one of three randomly picked powerups per level. To get to the end of the level you need to aim, run, slide, and jump your way to the end all while going through a fever dream of a décor.
Post Void might not be a game that you spend months playing but it is really fun and incredibly cheap at launch. €2,50 for a 2.4MB game that installs fast and lets you play fast is a very reasonable price and a must-have for the arcade shooter enthusiast. The only downside for me was the fact that I could only change the audio settings after the tutorial level, RIP my ears.
