Today was the big day for Xbox to share their vision on the future of gaming. The Xbox Series X hype is real but the company still had some impressive games to reveal to the world, and we weren’t disappointed at all! With an event packed with amazing games, it’s not easy to just name the best five but here we go!
5) The Gunk
Kicking off the list is a smaller game from the wonderful team over at Image & Form Games, the creators of the SteamWorld franchise. Time to meet their new game: The Gunk. This new 3D action-platformer looks like a lot of fun. Not the most realistic or brutal reveal of this digital event but that made it stand out even more. It really looks fun to play and I can’t wait to see it in action during a lengthier gameplay session.
Rare’s new project Everwild made a return during the Games Showcase and was here to impress. The gorgeous visuals, combining Sea of Thieves with the visuals of a state of the art animated movie, this game is unlike anything else on the market. The story promises a lot of freedom and unknown land to discover. Shame we didn’t get the same gameplay treatment for this one but the new trailer is more than reason enough to get us excited:
3) Psychonauts 2
A Jack Black Song? Trippy visuals? Weird worlds? Double Fine Productions? What’s more to say! Psychonauts 2 made a return and looks as fun and crazy as it should be! Can’t wait for more!
Right from the start, we already knew Halo Infinite was destined to claim a spot in this top five. The hype was already there from the first glimpses of the game years ago but the actual campaign gameplay made it all so much better. I remember spending hours in the original Halo games and by the looks of this new gameplay, I think I just found my newest addiction. It manages to captivate that typical Halo gameplay and adds in all that extra raw power of the next-generation console. Everything about it just feels like coming home and I really can’t wait to get my hands on this next big step in the Halo franchise. Time to get excited:
1) Fable
When it comes to Xbox games, Fable is a franchise I truly adore. Admittingly, it never reached the same crazy realizations as the creators often intended but the games offered a unique and fun adventure each and every time. We’ve been missing out on classic Fable games for far too long and it’s good to see things are about to change thanks to the Xbox Series X. No actual gameplay but this first teaser will get you in the mood for more Fable for sure:
