Ubisoft Forward is the company’s first all-digital event, created to replace the void that the cancelation of E3 2020 left behind. Ubisoft is known to bring the fire to their conferences, so how well did this digital event go, and what were our top 3 upcoming games during the show? Let’s jump right in!
3) Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
One that was certain to make a return was Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and although a lot got leaked the past couple of days, it was good to see the game in action, decently this time. First things first, the developers really went all out to capture the atmosphere of the Viking era, traveling to Norway to let the land sink in, and translating this in their upcoming game really turned out brilliantly. In the game itself, you’ll venture from Norway to England, filled with new enemies. As you’ll see in the trailer, the game combines a lot of different elements into one epic quest in a gorgeous new world:
2) Far Cry 6
It’s a bit of a shame this one got leaked days ago as it missed the same impact as a complete surprise but the first glimpse at the world of Far Cry 6 certainly didn’t disappoint at all. Great actors, an incredible setting, and madness, this sounds like the perfect Far Cry if you ask me:
1) Watch Dogs Legion
The return of Watch Dogs Legion wasn’t unexpected and so Ubisoft opened the digital show with it. What we saw was the perfect evolution of the game we saw during last year’s E3. It all kicked off with an incredible short film, really explaining the dark and gritty story of Legion. It feels a bit too close to home during these days where everything is monitored and resistance is rising in every corner of the world; but I think this will only benefit the actual game in the end. Delivering epic trailers is Ubisoft’s strength but they really went beyond this time, after the movie came the actual gameplay and we couldn’t be happier. Watch Dogs Legion is bringing the freedom that was promised last year. You can recruit and control everyone you see, triggering their own story and dialogues. Every character has its own strengths and weaknesses and tackles the missions completely differently. This is unseen freedom in a game and feels like the next logical step in standard open-world games. I literally can’t wait to single out my very own resistance army. Just check it out:
Missed an announcement or were you hoping for more? No need to worry, Ubisoft Forward will return this year with more upcoming games to share!
