Welcome to our review of Demon Pit, an old school Shooter like you’d expect in the arcades when you were little! The pit awaits!
Arise Demon Hunter. It is time. The years you spent slaughtering demon-kind in the mortal world did little to cleanse your soul. Your sins have been laid bare and you have been judged. You are damned for eternity. The pit awaits!
Inspired by the fast-paced FPS games of the 1990s, Demon Pit is an intense arcade-style arena shooter. Armed with a series of ranged weapons and a soul grapple, you must fight and out maneuver endless waves of demons in a constantly changing environment. How long can you survive before they rip your flesh and claim your soul?
Battle 10 types of hideous hellspawn. Repel the demon horde with 7 varied weapons. Use your soul grapple to traverse the arena quickly and avoid the oncoming legion. Master movement to survive the changing environment and its hazards. Constantly kill to keep your multiplier alive and compete for leaderboard immortality
Demon Pit is an ode to old school arcade shooters and it does well in that aspect. The Doom meets Quake meets whatever other game you want to say, it all works well. For shorter periods that is. The aesthetics of Demon Pit are basic and they do not disappoint if you are looking for a short gaming session. The game clamors a lengthy gameplay due to keeping its multiplier alive, but I beg to differ.
Demon Pit is a game that can get boring quite easily if played for a very long period of time and for my review purposes, I never got myself to play more than 15 minutes in 1 go. I just could not convince myself. My first few games, I barely reached the third level as I ran out of bullets for my new shiny weapon and before I was able to switch out my gun for the one with limitless bullets, I was often hit more than once, more often than not outright killed.
Maybe it was the lack of variety or the inability to kill enemies off in 1 shot… I would have loved this game if I was able to just move forward, but instead, I was always going backward, shooting my bullets hoping they’d kill the enemies that were chasing me AND not accidentally run into other enemies that would incur damage.
Not all is bad though, it just fell short due to its limited options. Once the walls go up, your point of view is changed. This may lower the chance of backing into the aforementioned enemies, but at the same time limit your mobility. Taking the good with the bad, I guess? I do wish the guns were a little more powered rather than these bland weapons. It would make the game a lot more gory and easy at the same time. Nothing wrong with that either!
In conclusion, Demon Pit may not have the best longevity of a game, but I guess it is good for a giggle ?
