The recent bits of info released from the interviews tell us that the National Dex has been pushed back in favor of new mechanics. We’re sure that tomorrow during the stream an old friend will be back…Snap!
It’s hype time and Galar is revealing its secrets piece by piece with the imminent release of Sword and Shield on Nintendo Switch. The fans were pretty mad with the news that the “National Dex” will not be complete in the Switch’s first main series. Game Freak made this hard decision to able to focus on more content and better animation. The game looked better every time we’ve seen a glimpse of it and so we’re especially stoked for tomorrow’s 24h stream of the game!

This is unprecedented for a Pokémon game and so we’re sure that we’ll see more than just a couple of new unannounced Pokémon. The stream is described as a look into the “Glimwood Tangle”. This dense forest looks like a lush environment that could house a bunch of different types of Pokémon. Since this is a 24h stream we can expect to see a seamless transition of a day and night cycle and even some weather mechanics maybe? The thumbnail shows some nice luminous effects too.
Now the way it’s set up like some National Geographic camera in this forest makes us wonder if by the end of the stream we could hear a shutter sound going off and the in-game hud revealing the Pokémon Snap mechanic making a brilliant return. Think of it, you might be able to set up camp and cook curry but why couldn’t we set up a camera and snap some pictures as an extra challenge? We think the motion controls and the R-button on the Joy-Con are perfect for taking snapshots of Galar’s new fauna.
So what do you think? Could we get a Pokémon Snap mechanic as a surprise in the upcoming games? Or would you rather see a standalone Pokémon Snap game for Switch? Let us know!
