WHAT THE GOLF? is currently out on Apple Arcade but will make the jump to PC and Nintendo Switch later. We decided to give it a go and weren’t disappointed at all, this might be the best golf game ever created!
Golf your way to victory
WHAT THE GOLF? is an easy game to learn. You simply touch your screen, fill up the bar and aim the ball. Just like many other golf games did before and in all honesty, the first level was a bit too easy. Easily landing a hole-in-one, I was wondering what new challenges the next level might introduce. Well, to my surprise, I was no longer golfing with balls, no, I was tossing a helpless person across the field. WHAT? Exactly, this clearly isn’t your everyday golf game and it’s absolutely brilliant in every way.
I golfed with humans, planets, golf sticks, power bars, houses, holes, and a lot more. Nothing is too crazy for this game and every new level will make you laugh out loud. This is unlike any other game on the market and it’s by far the funniest game currently available on Apple Arcade. If you thought golfing was difficult before, wait until you’ve played this. What I like most about the insane objects is the fact that the developers somehow managed to get the physics right. Slapping a house over the field is a lot harder than slapping a tiny little ball on the Green. It’s clear the team wanted to deliver something fun and something new but I’m glad they never lost the actual gaming elements out of sights.
A lot more than just golf
The fun doesn’t stop there since the game isn’t bound to the actual rules of golf, it results in some truly unique levels. During some levels, you would almost forget you’re actually playing a session of golf. As you can see on the screenshot above, it’s not hard to transform a golf game this crazy to a wacky racer. WHAT THE GOLF? excels at originality and throws you surprise after surprise. Tilting your screen in different levels, adding another trick to your characters… There’s always something new to discover and I absolutely loved it. Since it’s released on Apple Arcade first, it really feels like one of the better mobile games on the market so I certainly understand why it’s making the jump to PC and Switch. This isn’t just another one of those mobile games you’ll forget about in weeks, no, this one will hold a very special place in your memory if you’re willing to give it a shot.
Conclusion
WHAT THE GOLF? is the best thing that ever happened to golf. It’s not another one of those serious simulators, this one is all about having fun. I’ve played a lot of games in the past but never was I this surprised while playing. It’s an absurd adventure that deserves every second of your time.
