Welcome to the overview of the latest Inside Xbox presentation, shown on the opening day of Gamescom 2019!
We are live at gamescom, the world’s largest gaming convention! Tune in Monday August 19 at 5PM CEST / 11AM ET / 8AM PT. #InsideXbox
Featuring:
Gears 5, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, Xbox Game Pass, NBA2020, Blair Witch, PUBG, Wasteland 3, Empire of Sin, Vigor, Greedfall, The Surge 2, Metro Exodus AND MORE!
That was the official invite and information provided before the show even started and it was clear from the get go that we would be getting a high paced presentation from Xbox and while there have been some rumours that we would be seeing more of the next generation console, I think that this would be too early but hey, let us watch the presentation and find out together!
At the start of the show, we get a small introduction about Cologne where gamescom is held annually. If you have never been there, it is very well worth the visit as this is one of the prettier cities in the region!
The hosts of the presentation drop some minor bombshells of what to expect and after some major hyping, we start with a world premier trailer! The phenomenon that redefined the thriller genre and exclusive to this show, the Blair Witch! A most creepy trailer is being shown and that august 30th release date is not that far off!
Next up are some unicorn references and more games are coming to the Xbox Game Pass, Kingdom come deliverance is coming! Ape Out, Bard’s Tale 4 and Blair witch as well. All in the coming weeks and there is more, out today is Age of Empires (for pc), Devil May Cry 5 joins as well as Stilaris.
More free DLC for the classic Human Fall Flat is to come soon! August 27 is the date to mark down!
Gears POP news is next! Cross platform play between windows 10, IOS and Android and it is out in a mere 3 days from now! A trailer was shown next and besides my dislike for anything funkopop, this game does look fun. August 22 will be the day I install it on my iPhone!
NBA 2K news is up next and obviously a pro baller is joining the stage to do the introductions. Josh Hart is shown his rating and after a few awkward moments, we go on with the show. He expressed his love for Fortnite, not the first pro athlete that is a big fan of the franchise either! Then we move to the new career mode for NBA2K! Career mode looks quite expansive.
Moving on to the main stage and another world premiere,Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the first glimpse at the Ghost war mode, a 4 vs 4 mode.
Next up is Borderlands 3 and joining us on stage is none other than Randy Varnell, managing director, giving us some background information and new information of what is to come! Footage of the game is shown off and a lot of information about pets is given. Borderlands 3 looks quite amazing.
Another world premiere in the form of PUBG season 4: Aftermath! Promising new items and new features, the trailer is looking very energetic! Then back to the stage where they discussed the next season and they talk secret places in the game and real lifelike places in the game. Arriving on august 27th! Also very important, cross platform console play is coming! Late september or early october is when the testing should happen and hopefully it will go live soon!
Wasteland 3 is the next game to hit the spotlight and is the next world premiere trailer! The attention to detail in this trailer was very high and it made me want to play the game already!
Some hardware is shown off in the form of new controllers! Night ops Camo mode is looking stealthy and the second controller is a special blue one called Sport Blue, with rubber grips in the back. Both look incredibly nice!
Empire of Sin is the next title in this already very loaded show. This prohibition era game is having such a fantastic feeling of being pulled out of a Dick Tracy episode. Filled with mobsters and other hoodlums alike, the empire of sin is coming spring 2020. A ton of information is divulged and it looks really fun! Out in Spring 2002.
Vigor 1.0 releases as a free to play and is out today!
And now the hype for Gears 5 starts, the horde mode, … all is being hyped, even the mention that the gamescom video will have even more Gears 5 in it. But first some hype for XO19, which is held in november 2019 in London. All proceeds of which will be donated to charity.
Another world premiere, like no other, Greedfall! The game that will change upon the decisions you make along the way. Befriending people or making enemies, to make a party of 3 and the balance of combat will be something to keep in mind. Out september 10.
More world premieres, this next one being The Surge 2, set in the ruins of a futuristic city. This is a game where you need to find your way out of the city. Use your speed, strength and endurance to get new gear and stay alive. September 24 is the date to look forward to!
And we are still not done, Destiny 2 news is next up! Going into detail on the finishers, it simply looks amazing. A whole new world of options is being opened up by this game, it brings the killing level up and will allow you to play the game the way you wanted to! Shadowkeep is out on October 1st.
More Metro Exodus information about the new expansion, a new storyline and a new weapon of choice, a flame thrower! Available tomorrow on Xbox Game Pass and the trailer looked inviting! The Two Colonels is out tomorrow!
Back to hyping Gears of War 5 and how it has been building bonds across the world. A promo about previous iterations of the game and how they made friendships happen. Then finally, after at least five million references, we get the trailer to the Horde mode.
This may actually be the coolest thing to happen today in the Xbox presentation.
The Horde mode is very bad ass and it is all about defending your turf like any horde mode works. This Gears 5 horde mode is something I actually want to play already. It looks like the ultimate coop version in the Gears franchise. It may be the defining game mode of defense. It is not just about defense, but also about getting power ups outside the defense zone. Every game will feel fresh and the cards are better mixed and matched as well.
Equal distributions among team members among others are what to expect in this new mode. I am not a Gears player, but damn, this mode is appealing even to me.
Some side talk about Gears clothing, hoodies and the likes. More Gears 5 hype and September 10 is the day to look forward to!
This concludes this action packed presentation and I thank the Xbox crew for bringing us this many impressive games in the coming weeks!
