Indie Corner: Morphies Law Remorphed

Welcome to our review of Morphies Law Remorphed, the game that was once the highlight of a Nindies direct!

A mass stealing, robot morphing shooter where size matters. Morphies Law is a 3rd person 3D shooter where you can steal mass from other players making them shrink while you grow, which balances the game.

Size affects everything! what you can do, how you can navigate the different maps, how to play each game mode and more. Customize your Morphie, choose your weapons and go steal some mass!

Morphies Law Remorphed is both a very punishing and very rewarding game. Seasoned veterans of shooters might be bigger in gameplay but that does make em easier to spot and hit. Even if you are a newcomer to the game, Morphies Law Remorphed balances a thin line between fun and fairness and while experience does provide you with an edge, it does not come with a guaranteed win against newcomers.

When I first started playing the game, I was actually bored senseless with the game. I hate gyro controls as mentioned in numerous reviews prior to this one and aside from the biggest one of all, Splatoon, I think gyro controls rarely provide added fun. Morphies Law Remorphed is the second exception though to my dislike rule. I actually liked its sensitivity and it was easy and self-explanatory.

The tutorial at the beginning of the game covers all the basics of the game perfectly. It teaches you to shoot and properly hit the other Morphies. It also tells you all about the advantages of being big and small. Small means you can enter certain zones that are otherwise unavailable and so on.

Morphies Law Remorphed is actually mostly a party or online game. I had some friends over and we had way more fun than I anticipated to be blunt. We laughed and mocked each other the entire time. Online was another matter though. My game had some issues maintaining a proper connection and it disconnected me a few times in my hours of playing.

I was not too annoyed with it, but it felt like more could have been done to keep the connection alive. I was playing close to my Deco router and the app on my iPhone did say I was getting prioritized speeds, as installed. No big use of data in the house either, unless you count a YouTube stream as big…

The more you play, obviously the better you become and the more options become available, prior to my review I had already decided not to go into too much detail on this aspect as it would possibly drag out my review and maybe even make the game sound more boring than it really is?

Mind you that it is not boring at all. It just felt that way at first. I felt unable to really get some hits in. I self-destructed a few times, which is never fun and no, it was not on purpose…. And before I knew it, I lost my first few single-player games (which served as personal training) due to the environment pushing me out of bounds or into spikes.

In conclusion, Morphies Law Remorphed is a bit of a weird game. The feeling of almost playing a Splatoon type game in a Mexican mariachi setting, it was so much fun and despite a rocky start, I am giving it a two thumbs up review. The game is fun to play and fair for all.
