Indie Corner: Laser Kitty Pow Pow

Welcome to our review of Laser Kitty Pow Pow, a frantically paced game that has kitties and lasers!

Sure, cats are cool. But how about Laser-firing Giant Cat Heads? Unleash the “furry”!

Cute? Maybe. Fast? Sure. Wild? You bet!

Laser Kitty Pow Pow is the “purrfect” arcade game for vibrant, fast-paced, and easy to pick-up action.Laser Kitty Pow Pow is  a side shooter with some awkward controls that do seem to work for this game.

Laser Kitty Pow Pow is a 1 screen side shooter where your giant laser kitty head is in the middle, you move left or right, up and down the axis and shoot while moving. The base controls are reversed and moving left will react the opposite way. Your job to protect the big heart in the middle and prevent it from getting slain.

The difficulty spikes straight from the start as already the third level is a real challenge as it introduced the up and down mechanic, thinking I could just ignore enemies on another level, but alas, that did kill the giant heart in the middle, regardless what level it was on.

The game is also incredibly fast-paced. I was not expecting something so frantic and especially not from the start. I do feel it could have been made easier for the initial levels instead of the weird bumps in difficulty.

While it is fun, Laser Kitty Pow Pow does do its best to make it hard on you, though I honestly think the controls are to blame. I can see myself pwning this game on a keyboard but in handheld, I was unable to really shine brightly. Which was a shame, despite its basic 8bit graphics and game mechanics, this game does feel like it could be very fun.

Maybe it is just me, but I keep having issues with the harder difficulty levels in games and Laser Kitty Pow Pow is no exception, I can clearly see this is a fun game, but having to play tens of games just to finish a single level at times, while not even being in the second part of the game, is just nothing for me.

In conclusion, Laser Kitty Pow Pow is fun, frantically paced but too hard for me.
