Welcome to our roundup article on everything Google Stadia that was revealed today!
Ray Bautista is the host for this presentation and he starts off with a recoup of everything that Stadia stands for. He pushes the Stadia founder pack and uses FOMO as a way to ensure you buy the pack! Do not let them trick you into buying the pack if you do not want to…
Our next presenter Shanna is the first to show some new games off and we start off with CD Projekt Red. Their Cyberpunk game is the first to be showcased and we are mostly getting game information. A lot of new information, but nothing specifically Stadia related. They only mention it is coming to Stadia and that is that. Such a disappointment we are not getting any direct information about the service, we already know this game is “breathtaking”.
Next we get more trailers for incoming games but still no actual information about Stadia, I am beginning to wonder if this is even a Stadia presentation at this point.. Darksiders Genesis is coming to Stadia too, but still no actual info regarding the system/idea of Stadia itself.
In itself, the demos and trailers are all incredibly interesting but without any actual information, this presentation is in need of a real hit or I am declaring Stadia dead from the get go. And we get a Stadia exclusive announcement, an average looking defense game called Orcs must die 3.
When I was asking for more, I was expecting more than this. Mind you that I am not dissing this game, I am happy to see an exclusive happening, but as I am writing this live during the presentation, I am so very underwhelmed at this point, we are fifteen minutes in and all we got are a few nice titles coming and a smaller exclusive. They tout that Stadia makes it possible for 500 simultaneous enemies at once, but after hearing the most powerful servers of google would be running their service, I am not impressed at all.
Windjammers 2 is showcased next, followed by Destroy all humans. Next is Mortal Kombat 11, one of many games coming to Stadia that has already been out on most other consoles. I know this is early flack that google needs to bring new games and not old fan favourites, but when a game like MK 11 is only coming in november, that is too late to be considered a serious contender.
Superhot is the next one to be announced. Second time it got announced today, as this one is out now on Nintendo Switch too! This one had no release date yet for Stadia, but hey, it’s coming right? Right? (pardon the sarcasm, Superhot is awesome but Stadia right now feels “Super Cold” to me)
Quite possibly the news of the presentation was next, Farming Simulator is shown and it actually looked decent! And no, still not stopping my sarcastic mood when reporting this presentation. I sincerely think I am wasting my time writing this article, time that would be better spent taking a nap.
Samurai Shodown was next, no date like usual, followed by Grid, another racing game coming to this lightning fast console… oh wait, we still do not know a single thing about Stadia itself that was not already announced previously…
Doom Eternal is coming too, soon on stadia. So is Attack on Titan 2, the latest game of the franchise that I recently reviewed for PS4, a game well worth your time and/or attention, I wonder how this game will work on the magnificent Stadia… or when it will come out?
As this presentation still fails to talk about the actual system, like pricing, … we are getting tons of fun games being announced but mostly without dates or estimates when they are coming, I sincerely think Google needs to pay attention to their potential future fanbase and literally start giving us information rather than just “trailer after trailer”.
It is so clear you are holding out on divulging a massive day 1 line up, but for now, I am strongly considering asking for a refund on that founders pack. I would buy a console or streaming service like this if it was bringing me something new. But so far, I am being greatly disappointed by the lack of clarity and new material. I get that you can not wow us with tens of new titles and that you need to build up a library of games.
But the cold hard truth is that you are late to the party and right now, you are doing nothing to prove worthy of my hard earned cash. I will be getting watchdogs on my Ps4, Cyberpunk probably on my Xbox One and so on. Everything shown so far, does not convince me to buy into your idea.
I would love some clarity for example. How do your prices really work? Will the games be mine for life or until you decide to no longer host them? What happens when a license expires? A physical release remains mine in such a case, but what about your service? What guarantee do I have that games stay in my library.
This entire Stadia direct, you have given me not one answer to any of my questions. You showcased games and aside from that 1 exclusivity, you bring me no potential desire to subscribe.
But life is not all bad for Stadia, there is still time before november!
Get your act together, create clarity please, you want our money and we do want to support you. Remain unclear and I will simply not support you.
