Gamescom 2019 Opening Night Live

Welcome to our round up of the 2019 Gamescom Opening Night Live!

We start off the presentation with a nice trailer of Gears of War 5, where they go into greater detail on the previously announced Horde mode (earlier today on Inside Xbox). Gears 5 also won Best Xbox game!

Next is the World Premiere of Comanche, a small trailer is shown and this classic from THQ Nordic is coming back to life!

Next is another THQ Nordic world premiere, this time DCL The Game.

Need for speed is getting actual gameplay shown in the next section of the show. A ton of cars, the game mechanics explained and some impressive graphics later, even I want to play this game!

Next World Premiere, Kerbal space program 2 with a most stunning trailer about space exploration and building stations in outer space. Coming in 2020.

Another World Premiere, from Bandai Namco Entertainment, Little Nightmares 2! Coming in 2020 on PS4, X1, Switch and PC. The footage shown was in game engine.

Next up is Predator: Hunting Grounds. A very cool looking game that is multiplayer and it is 4v1 much like the original movie. Out sometime next year.

World premiere for the Monster Hunter Iceborne DLC is up next. The Monster Hunter franchise is either loved or hated and this Iceborne expansion does look very impressive to say the least. I may not be a fan of the series myself, but damn that was impressive!

Next is The Cycle, a new genre as the trailer touts, PVP and PVE combined. A futuristic look and combat is displayed. Early access starts now for this new adventure. PvEvP is the genre they want to claim…

Episode four of Life is Strange is up next. The trailer is showcased and this might be another great hit from Square Enix. This franchise is known for its deep storylines and powerful energy.

Next is a game by Sega and Amplitude, a historical turn based strategy game. The trailer started off very confusing and then it showed the slogan “how far will you push humanity?”. It pans out and reveals Humankind, the title, which is coming in 2020.

Next up, Borderlands 3, some video footage is shown and then they moved on to the next world premiere.

A space shooter from Rockfish Games, stunning graphics, amazing backgrounds, loads of action and yeah, we are getting Everspace 2! Stunning Asteroid belts, awesome fire fights and so much more. This is a game pushing space fighting to the limit. Coming in 2021. Steam, Ps4 and X1 are in the trailer as mentioned platforms.

Next is a game on Nintendo Switch, CD Projekt Red brings the Witcher 3 as we already knew, but to finally see some more footage, it sure feels great. If this is in game engine footage, we are in for a treat when this game drops on October 15th!

Fifa 20 is up next. Obviously this game is huge in Europe and the Volta are shown off, these are outside ball parks where you basically play 3 on 3 street football. We get some new footage shown on stage and it does look quite impressive.

The next trailer is for Disintegration and this trailer was very inviting to play the game. It had a clear Star Wars racing game feeling at first, but it is clearly a fighter with some mild Star Wars influences, the amount of simultaneous action on screen is inviting… Coming to Ps4, X1 and PC.

Next world premiere in this presentation is an action RPG, Darksiders Genesis. coming to all platforms.

Next is someone introducing a Stadia exclusive called Gylt. it is a good looking game and gives me a haunted tale feeling. (I wonder when it is coming to other consoles as this one just screams mobile use and Nintendo Switch)

Nintendo won the Nintendo award for Zelda Link’s awakening.

Next is Bungie, Destiny 2 is getting its fair share of spotlight and Shadowkeep is being showcased. October 1 release date and a nice trailer is shown!

The following trailer is for the game called Remothered: Broken Porcelain. A horror story game that has a rather eerie feeling to it. It will be released on all consoles.

Next up is a highlight reel with some titles like Shenmue 3, Outer Worlds, Breakpoint, Ancestors and many more. This is a promotion reel for the Epic Games Store. Magic The Gathering Arena is one of many games joining the Epic Games Store and it is coming this winter.

Another World Premiere, this time for a Playstation game. An interactive thriller called Erica and it looks like an actual movie, out now! The actress playing Erica is on stage and she really sells the game, haha. This live action game is looking like it very creatively embraces the genre.

After a small interlude, we move back to another world premiere, Anno, the smash hit, getting DLC! Ubisoft surely made some of its fans very happy with this one. Play Anno 1800 for free the next few days!

Next World premiere is a game that starts off with pirate ships fighting to pan out and revealing the title and fourth installment of Port Royale!

Next World Premiere is a steampunk RTS game, Iron Harvest.

Next are some gamescom awards being named and then we move on to the next part of the show. Call of Duty Modern Warfare is next! Its’ producer takes the stage and gives us more details on the multiplayer and showcases a new trailer! Crossplay will be supported and it will not just limit itself to console to console but also towards PC.

Next up is the appearance of Hideo Kojima, obviously we are talking Death Stranding and mister Kojima hopes everyone will enjoy this open world game and he shows off some new characters for this game! I never realised how stunning this game looked and these character reviews look simply amazing.

Kojima casually mentions Guillermo Del Toro plays one of the roles in his game. Everyone is excited to see some gameplay too and Kojima says he wanted to keep the gameplay for Tokyo Game Show. But we did get a hint of what the game will be like. We then get a wtf moment as the game shows a urinating option… Moving on to more action, but yeah, that one moment will be forever in my mind, I guess.

Death Stranding concludes the show and everyone is welcomed to join Gamescom over the next few days! Hoping to see you there!
