Welcome to my post-E3 impressions of my time with Luigi’s Mansion 3, my most anticipated game as we speak.
Prior to my hands-on preview, I should be clear and state that I loved the previous installments of this game. I own every possible edition of the games and I even own the awesome Limited Edition figures of the game. It’s most likely a personal hall of fame franchise and my expectations going into the actual demo were incredibly high!
I have previously written an opinion piece about how I thought this game was the spiritual winner of the E3 announcements, the Treehouse presentation is something I watched 3 times now. It’s a franchise I adore and the new game, after so long, was just about the best thing that happened to me.
The main appeal of this game is nothing more but nostalgia for me, Ghostbusters was among my all-time favorite movies and to having Luigi of all characters as my main character, it was so much fun. I originally bought my GameCube with the original Luigi’s Mansion and it was the first game in very long that I finished.
Fast forward to the post-E3 event. Finally getting the chance to really play the game, well, the demo at least. For this demo, we are thrown into a part of the hotel where the game unfolds. In true Luigi’s Mansion fashion, you are tasked to take out all the ghosts around the floor you are in. You learn to handle your weapon and flashlight. A small mention here is that that same flashlight can also be used by one of the shoulder buttons, which made it a lot easier to maneuver around the place.
The exact same feeling of the old games is right there. It’s just a lot more of the old same style. A more modern style and a lot prettier. The one thing I really noticed there, the amount of time they invested in this gorgeous style. I was able to play the demo twice, so I got to really go for gold in the first one and finish it. The second try, I was aware of everything around me and at the same time I was able to gather more items, hidden swords, find hidden passageways and so much more.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 was just about as great as I expected it to be and though the demo was short, it actually served its purpose to perfection! A great demo that made me wanting more. My sole regret going out of this hands-on experience, aside from the obvious joke that I wanted to play it a third time, was that I am left feeling extremely unhappy that I do not know when this game is finally available.
I am so darn serious, I am more anxious now than ever to get this game. I would pay to find out the release date already, the game itself was preordered prior to the event, so yeah, this is more than ever a day 1 purchase for me. Luigi’s Mansion 3 was amazing and is more than ever my current contender for the most anticipated game.
