Welcome to our review of Chicken Rider, an endless runner that involves a polar bear riding a chicken!
You play as a polar bear who is fighting for animal freedom. You have to help chickens held in the chicken farm.
Chicken Rider is an endless runner game in which the player takes control of the young polar bear. The little bear is fighting for animal freedom. But during the attempt of chicken liberation, not everything is working according to the plan. Our hero accidentally turns on the alarm and he is forced to flee on the only one vehicle left… the chicken.
During the gameplay, the player will be able to use different crazy power-ups, among which you will find Squirrel Commando or a typical American redneck! After every run, the player will be able to buy different outfits for the bear and unlock new “mounts”!
Chicken Rider may sound like another weird game that you may want to skip until it is on a sale, but let me tell you, aside from the annoying music, this is actually quite a decent game! This game is a basic left to right runner and because it is procedurally generated, not one run is the same. At one point I set my new record at 2000+ meters only to get a few dozen meters the very next try!
It is quite challenging as jumps are quite special. Though all jumps are exactly the same, it is due to the awkward length you sometimes end up missing your pitch and end up crashing into either a farmer or an obstacle.
As any other endless runner will teach you, avoid the obstacles and just keep going, right? Well, Chicken Rider has “boss fights” with this weirdo on top of a flying saucer throwing stuff at you! My first encounter with him was something very unexpected. I ended up taking three attempts to get past him. Either I was jumping straight into his missiles or they hit me when I was on my way down.
Chicken Rider is a game that might have great longevity if you get into the game. Quite fun for the quick game, loading times were good and it looks fun to play. I decided to let my brothers youngest kid give it a try, he is 10 and adores games like Pokemon and Fortnite, so I figured this might be a great game for him to give a go. He absolutely loved it and much like his uncle, he hated the “hillbilly” style music so much, he turned it off within minutes after playing the game. He kind of made me proud.
In conclusion, this game has more to offer than what I personally expected. I loved getting items, skipping parts, getting skateboards, … Chicken Rider is not the best of games, but did provide fun gameplay for both me and Milan.
