Perfect for your kids or the occasional 5-minute breaks, this is also its biggest downside. Everything is about short play sessions or letting your kids entertain themselves. Sure, that might appeal to many, having the kids entertained, but I played it as a 42-year-old and I want to see how it plays out in the long run.

So I played it on three different days in between a long play of Assassin’s Creed 3, a game that is highly captivating and quite possibly the most ideal title to see whether or not I want to return to 30-in-1 Game Collection Volume 2. I admit I loved some games and easily went back to those, but some games were dull. This is clearly to be expected in games like these, obviously, you will not love all of em.

I loved the marble blast game most of all, that is the one I kept coming back for. The others did keep me busy at times, but I kept quitting rather quickly to go back to AC3. So I am stuck between calling it a great investment for kids and the occasional 5-minute game or actually something that should be avoided. I will be honest, this is a hard one. It might be the variety of games that do not suit me, but I do consider this game a great investment.

Despite some slower action in some games, I can barely speak ill of the games as they are what they are. Basically mostly 1 screen games. 30-in-1 Game Collection Volume 2 is a game that takes a while to get used to and most importantly to have all games available to play. This might be what stops some from buying, but you need to play every little game and earn certain amounts of stars to free up the next island of games. I actually disliked this aspect as it forces you to “score” on the games you dislike.

It felt highly counterproductive at that.

So despite some heavy criticism, I do feel this game is a must buy for anyone with kids. I had my brothers kids over the other day and they seemingly had tons more fun than me. It proved to me what I felt deep down. I am not the target public for this game, but young kids are. Those same 3 kids had tons of fun and actually ended up overplaying their allotted game time set out by their parents. (small side note, this is 3 hours total per day so they had ample time to game)

In conclusion, 30-in-1 Game Collection Volume 2 is fun when you play it with friends and it will do a fine job keeping kids busy! As a single player, it did not fully stick though.
