Review: Overcooked! 2 – Campfire Cook Off DLC

Do you enjoy cooking while your surroundings are catching on fire? Do you like s’mores? Just can’t get enough of accidentally shoving your friends off of a cliff? Want to run around the woods frantically with an omelet? Then the Campfire Cook-Off expansion is definitely for you.

Into the woods
Armed with four adorable new chefs, you’ll travel into the woods aboard the Onion King’s bus. Here you’ll find twelve new levels (and three of the notorious Kevin levels), where you’ll be providing your outdoorsy guests with some much-needed nourishment. Of course, you’ll be serving up the classics like pizza, but some new campsite dishes are also introduced, like s’mores, omelets with sausages and canned beans, and blueberry pancakes.
The Chaos Intensifies
If you, like me, couldn’t get enough of the frenzy that is Overcooked 2, then you’re bound to love this extra content. The new mechanics that are introduced only add to the disarray and confusion:
Campfires: That fire ain’t gonna start itself! Your chopping block will now feature an ax, so you’re not only responsible for getting your ingredients chopped, but also the wood for the fire to cook them on. There are also meters next to your fire. So if you don’t keep throwing on wood, the cooking temperature will slowly drop so low that you can’t cook fast enough… So maintain your fires, people! Not that you have anything else to do… Right?
Backpacks: You enter a level and you see…Multiple backpacks. Each one of them storing a main ingredient. Once you put them on, only your fellow chefs can take out their content. Which results in a lot of following each other around, throwing ingredients everywhere and shamelessly bumping into your colleagues.
Overcooked!
Campy Conclusion
You’re getting a lot of bang for your buck. The levels are really challenging and the new mechanics are refreshing. Not to mention the Kevins are weird and fun as well.
So put on your hiking boots, hop aboard that bus, pack your chef’s hat… And go forth and make some s’mores!
