Special: Gaming at Made in Asia 2019

Made in Asia, one of the biggest conventions of Belgium takes place this weekend in Brussels. We just returned and checked out if it was worth paying a visit if you’re a fan of the gaming industry.

Gaming area – the major league

Made in Asia has, once more, installed a dedicated gaming area. Here you’ll find a lot of different booths where you can check out a wide variety of game. The biggest and most impressive booth is the Nintendo booth, offering you a chance to play some of the new Nintendo Switch games like Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee!, Smash Brothers, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and even a demo of Yoshi’s Crafted world. Besides this, you could also enter in a lot of different competitions or take a look at some unreleased amiibo figurines. The Nintendo booth looked impressive and offered a lot of fun if you’re looking for a new Switch game or if you don’t have a Nintendo Switch yet. Due to the time of the year, Nintendo didn’t offer new unreleased games aside from the Yoshi demo that’s currently also in the eShop. Unlike the F.A.C.T.S. convention, you won’t find a lot of unreleased games here.

Nintendo wasn’t the only big company, there was a Bethesda, PlayStation, and Xbox booth too. The Bethesda booth has to be the strangest one in the bunch since it didn’t offer any playable games at all. Instead, you could gaze upon the banners of upcoming big hits like Rage 4 and Doom Eternal. A bit strange to have a booth if you don’t offer playable demos, but maybe they were just there to make sure people didn’t forget about their upcoming releases. Moving over to PlayStation and Xbox. Both brands shared a booth divided with banners of Days Gone and Forza Horizon 4. The playable PlayStation game, however, wasn’t Days Gone, it was FIFA… Again, a strange decision but it’s clear that Made in Asia isn’t aiming for exclusive gaming content, instead, they want their visitors to have fun!

Gaming area – all about having fun

And fun was had! During our visit, we saw visitors enjoying every inch of several gaming booths. From the giant booths to the smaller Indie, VR, or Retro booths, people were having fun! If you’re a fan of video games, Made in Asia 2019 certainly is a place worth checking out. The number of people can be overwhelming but keep in mind that a lot of the fans are there to check out the latest manga/anime gear in the numerous shops. If you’re a fan of both gaming and manga/anime, Made in Asia is definitely worth checking out and can easily result in a fun Sunday activity. If you’re a fan of gaming only, it depends on what you are looking for. Looking for new and unreleased games? Don’t bother with a trip to Brussels, since you won’t find a lot of new games there. Just a gaming fan who wants to have fun? Made in Asia got you covered. From Virtual Reality to eSports on the big stage, there’s enough to discover to keep a lot of gamers entertained.

Conclusion:

Compared to the F.A.C.T.S. Fall edition, Made in Asia 2019 doesn’t offer the same amount of new and unreleased games, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth a visit. If you’re a fan of video games you’ll have a lot of fun at Made in Asia this weekend. You can go crazy with several VR games, relive your youth with tons of retro games or play some modern games that just got released in the past months. If you’re a gamer who’s looking for a fun Sunday activity, you might want to add Made in Asia to your list!
