Help Joe and his fellas on their upwards journey. Be quick as a flash and dodge roaring cannonballs, vicious bats, and other traps. Perform high scores or leave your competitors in the dust!

Jumping Joe is a silly little game, the premise is easy. Jump as high as possible, from one platform to the next, it is as easy as it sounds.

As you reach higher and higher, there are more and more obstacles in your way. From stakes on certain platforms to disappearing stakes on others. The main job is to jump up left of jump up right. At times, you are faced with 2 platforms, both with stakes on them. You can see the stakes disappear and you need a split second reaction to jump up to that platform.

At times you just get birds flying around the platforms and at other times, you get flying objects, the higher you go, the more this game becomes challenging. It becomes more and more of a ballad of jumps than an actual game at times. The powerups are fun and the game sure is fun too. The faster you go, more and more fun is guaranteed!

The big problem of this game though, it is simplistic. I have to say, I love this game and I doubt it will disappear anytime soon from my Nintendo Switch. It is however restricted by the simplistic gameplay. Left and Right, make sure you don’t jump into walls or into enemies and you are set. But that is all there is to it.

As long as your hand-eye coordination does not cheat you, you are in for some very fast action. The game is filled with small and big traps all over the place. Avoid em all to hit that high score.

Aside from the main game, there is also the Multiplayer “couch party” mode with 42 funny characters to choose. You can unlock 8 characters, each with their own specialty to take advantage of.

But what really sets this game apart, in its simplicity, the game is instantly figured out by anyone. I let my wife play the game for 5 minutes and she instantly knew what to do. There is actually no tutorial at all, but that is the least of the issue here. This game doesn’t need one.

In conclusion, while this game is a lot of fun, it can be hectic and quick paced, but at the same time, it is limited by its simplicity, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I loved my game time so far and award this game a 70% rating. The fun outweighs the simplicity.
