Preview: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Welcome to our preview of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker for Nintendo Switch.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, which originally launched for Wii U, is coming to Nintendo Switch. The new version includes new miniature courses based on various Kingdoms in the Super Mario Odyssey game. Also, anyone can play with a friend or family member by sharing a pair of Joy-Con controllers. While one player controls Captain Toad, the other can assist with things like turnip cover fire. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker launches for Nintendo Switch on July 13. A Nintendo 3DS version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, which includes stereoscopic 3D visuals and touch-screen controls, also launches on July 13.

Captain Toad might be the best game to have been released on the Wii U. I have called it my favorite game of all time. When I heard it was coming to both Nintendo Switch and 3DS, I immediately ordered them and started replaying it on Wii U. I have now finished the game 2 times at the full 100% and I am still loving every bit of it now in my third playthrough.

So what exactly is Captain Toad: Treasure tracker?

This game is one gigantic collection of some of the best puzzle games out on Wii U. All set in small worlds of their own, it is your job to find the big star and the 3 diamonds in the world. Majestically avoid the enemies in the worlds, ranging from Boos to Koopas to falling blocks, … Use turnips to weed out the enemies and all the while balancing Toad, who can’t jump along the way.

This game is set in a 3D world, so at the same time, it is your maneuvering of the world to help you reach that last diamond or that elusive gold mushroom. This game is a blast and it is now getting a second life on Switch and on 3DS. The Switch and 3DS are amazing platforms and lend their characteristics very well to this game. Tapping on the screen to move certain parts that in turn affect other parts of the world, this game is puzzling action on its best!

But Nintendo did not just port things without adding extra features or levels, there are several new levels based upon Super Mario Odyssey! Sadly you will have to wait out our full review for the information about them! Keep your eye out on the site and on our YouTube as we will have a small preview video up there too.
