In true OG Game Boy style, you have this small game called Pirate Pop Plus. The Enemy in the middle keeps throwing the bubbles into the screen and you need to pop the bubbles with your chain.

Like the description stated already, gravity forces you from one side of the screen to the other, from left to right. While it is simple at first, it becomes hectic so fast, this game becomes a rush. That! That is a very good thing. At points in the game, you flip from left to top to right back to left and then top again in just a few figurative seconds. I loved it very much.

As hectic as this game is, it is also limited by that same screen where all the action takes place. You can obviously upgrade your chain, get better weapons, … There is also a regular shop where you can upgrade the outside of the game screen, which presents itself as a “gaming device”.

Pirate Pop Plus is a simple premise for a game. It does not stand out in the crowd. There are a few of this genre, though not on Nintendo Switch. But it is a good game to own. The price point is low and it is fun to play. So what is wrong with it?

It is a tiny and limited game. I sincerely can not say how it will perform in the long run. I am having a lot of fun right now, but what when it drops off the main list of titles and hits the “void” of the home screen and it becomes a title I need to find? I worry about that. I would, however, say that it is worth it for now and I do endorse buying and trying the game.

In conclusion, a short review for a small game which is also out on a variety of other consoles. I think it is worth the money but my doubts about its longevity remain.

My rating is 80%
