Welcome to our review of the Donkey Kong addition to the Mario+Rabbids game on Nintendo Switch.
After becoming Game of E3 in 2017, it became clear pretty quickly that Mario+Rabbids was going to be a very interesting game with great tactical display mixing two very odd partners together in the Mario universe with the Rabbids. For anyone that played it, you know how great the original game was, well now, time for some added content, namely the Donkey Kong DLC.
Embark on an epic battle against Rabbid Kong, who takes over a mysterious island. Donkey Kong, Rabbid Peach, and a moody new Rabbid hero, Rabbid Cranky, team up on a journey across four brand-new environments. Discover a world of tactical gameplay and secrets to uncover.

Chain together new moves, like swinging with dandelions or climbing high ground, to conquer your foes.
Releasing on June 26, 2018, the basic game is getting a very serious addition with the Donkey Kong storyline. So how does it play and has it been worth the waiting time?
It still plays great though you will immediately find a lot of smaller differences, like collecting bananas instead of coins, power runes for the skill tree, … Donkey Kong, Cranky Kong and Peach are your initial team and you are now on a new island after Rabbid Kong destroyed the washing machine, causing you to face a whole new bunch of enemies.
The main premise of the new content, get all the missing parts from the washing machine and beat everyone along the way. You will encounter more persistent enemies like the collectors, they basically got the missing washing machine pieces and if one drops such a piece, the others will scurry to pick it up again before you can. Needless to say that if you own the piece and your player gets beat, they drop the piece again.
Much like the main game, the DLC is an added bonus. It lets you experience a whole new story but in the exact same style. I am just starting out and it already feels like I am playing more like a second game rather than an add-on.
I also loved the puzzles to get more coins or power runes in between fights, they really are some of the best out there and much like the original, they can get tricky at times.
Now about the way the new characters play, Donkey Kong has abilities truly belonging to his character. He can play the bongos to attract enemies. He can throw a banana like a boomerang., hitting multiple enemies at once. Another one of his attacks, the ability to pick an enemy and throw him away like a ball, even on top of other enemies. It is so great.
Cranky Kong on the other hand, he has quite the arsenal too, he can put enemies to sleep, has this wide range blaster and is overall quite powered. All while Rabbid Peach is still the same old irritating Rabbid but really, we can’t stop loving her….
In conclusion, my honest advice is to pick up the game and Donkey Kong add-on, they are both amazing pieces of gaming culture. I can’t recommend it enough and my rating is 90%
